Help TST, I am taking the German hunting course and want to invest in a one of kind European hunting rifle, must be bolt action and 30 cal. variant.

I am looking for a big game rifle that is exclusive to Europe and sold in the .30 caliber, I prefer the 30-06 because the ammo can be found anywhere but would settle for anything. Post up guys!

for a european gun your gonna dish out some serious cash. i know you can get a browning BAR that are made in belgium but its semi auto. another really nice rifle is a browning a bolt, but they are made in japan now. all these new brownings are being made in the wsm (winchester short magnum) rounds, i dont know why but apparently they are effiecient and a little more accurate, but cost 2 bucks a round. what do u plan on hunting? the most popular big game bullet in america is a 30-06. .270 is nice too, a 7mm magnum is alittle bit more powerful and a .300 winchester magnum is very powerful and accurate and could take down a moose no problem.

i dont know much about european rifles, but i can name alot of 10,000 dollar shotguns.

the only one i can think of, not sure how much this cost but im sure its atleast 2 thousand

unless u just want some fancy gun, id go with a remington 700 or winchester model 70, really good guns and u wont mind getting them beat up.

I made up my mind on my rifle. I am going with a CZ 550 Euro-spec (ordered from the Czech Replubic) in 30-06.

Druckjagd means press (drive) hunt.

I was convinced by fellow hunters here to outfit it with a Schmidt & Bender 3.5-12x56 illuminated reticle scope! Well hell, this damn scope (used) costs more than the damn rifle but they convinced me I need it for night hunts for wild boar, etc.

Just curious, but why didn't you go with the classic? And nice gun, my opinion aside.

those are Federal Premium tactical 9mm rounds. They are Expanding Full Metal Jacket (EFMJ). ill let Federal explain the details:

"An ideal choice for agencies that don't permit hollow point ammunition, this revolutionary barrier-penetrating design combines a scored full metal nose over an internal rubber tip that collapses on impact. It never fills with barrier material and assures expansion on every shot. A lead core at the base maintains weight retention. Also an ideal personal defense option."

I love that Sig but it was just to much money for me. I picked up a SW9VE last week. Price was right and the gun fits good in my hand. We defiantly got to set up a shooting date. Where do you guys go around here?

I was suprised how easy it is in PA to get a permit, I was pissed I put 4 quarters in the meter outside the courthouse. About 20 minutes inside. Other states make you take courses and a long wait.

it's all different by county in PA some you have to take it to the local PD etc, others you walk in with nothing but cash and walk out with a permit...
