Im not overly happy with my speakers. I really thought they would thump harder. Maybe there is something on the headunit im missing...some sort of menu or something? Rick, do you think its just that sh^tty amp?

A speaker can move air all day to make bass, but if the air has nonthing to react against, such as an enclosure, then all that air moving is wasted. That's why I have a ported subwoofer in my trunk, and it's facing backwards towards the hatch so it reverberates off the hatch enclosure and enhances the bass. If I faced it forwards it dissapates the bass too fast in the rest of the cabin and ends up out of the windows. Why do you think you can't hear your stereo that well when you have the top down on your miata? Your moving air with the speakers but it has nonthing to react on since when the top is down there is essentially no cabin for the bass to work on. Bass is meant to be felt, not heard. High tones are meant to be heard, not felt so that's why it doesn't matter as much as to the placement of tweeters.

Just went and listened to them again. I guess I cant complain. Everything sounds crystal clear. A small sub, like a nice 10 would probably finish everything perfectly. Maybe one day i'll do that.
