Yup.

The stock internals can handle upwards of 500hp. I have seen a few people at slowboy do it.

Problem comes down to tuning and knowing how to tune it properly.

Although I agree with your info, anything with the phrase "slowboy" is automatically discredited, IMHO.

Slowboy didn't build the stock block so it is possible. Lol.

EklipzGSXkid 10-20-2010 07:32 AM

No, But if they did the tuning.... I personally never had a problem with them. My friend spent ALOT of money on a built longblock out of one of their ''race cars'' a few years ago. They re-tuned it in his car with his mods and he made it half way home and the engine gave out and was completly ruined.

kthackst 10-20-2010 08:09 AM

I have heard a ton of absolute horror stories like that before. Installing rings incorrectly is a big one. Yeah I understand where you are coming from.

HaveBlue83 10-20-2010 05:15 PM

i have heard bad about slowboy as well. i believe it was about the rings not correctly seated/impropr rings, and the block was all jacked up and scored up from it.

NEVER going to them. I will go to DSMgraveyard, Jayracing, or another place if i have work done.

Got Insulin? 10-20-2010 05:20 PM

Skip graveyard, too. Those guys are total hacks.

kthackst 10-20-2010 06:18 PM

I build my own. That way I know exactly what is going on in there. Lol.

$350 (don't quote me but thats what i remember them telling me) for a FP HTA rebuild is so insanely worth it

Foolinaround 10-20-2010 09:45 PM

just got to eklipzkid or whatever.

HaveBlue83 10-20-2010 09:47 PM

i heard about that retrofit rebuild. i'm gonna just have mine fixed. i will need funds for supporting mods for the 16g now....like FMIC, injectors, AFPR, and prolly cams when i install the 3g lifters.

I HAVE looked at that HTA. it DOES sound sick.

stover 10-20-2010 10:06 PM

ill be running same turbo with supporting mods, 16g, 660 injectors, BFMIC, gm 3" blow through, MAFT, SAFC2, 255 pump, AFPR, cant wait to get it on the road!

HaveBlue83 10-20-2010 10:37 PM

^^u need link man. that SAFC isnt gonna cut it when u have knock and need to adjust ur timing.

I'm gonna stick with drawthough. I dont NEED the bowthrough yet. thought about it, but not yet.

TalonTsi97 10-20-2010 11:00 PM

I've seen a evo maf, 1g bov car make 690whp. What makes you any different? lol
Same guy i mentioned helping you get it dialed in on the tune if needed.

^^i remember that car on craigslist as a part out, same picts. lol

i dont mind help. i'm sure i will have questions once i get link in and i start tuning.

EklipzGSXkid 10-20-2010 11:14 PM

Wait till you all see the picture of a dsm i'm tearing down currently..... It's funny that some in the past said I "hack" cars together (When I post full pics ETC of my builds). Now, Since I am constantly buying these cars and re-doing them, Or parting them, I never realized how many people actually hack these things together. I've bought cars from people who bad talk me and others (Good enough to sell me a car though?), And when I tear into the car, It's a complete disaster from bumper to bumper.

I'll upload the picture in the next 15-20 minutes. I actually had a few dsmer's at my garage from out of town (In PA though), That were buying some parts/transmission off of me. They watched me pull the motor/trans, And they are the ones that spotted what I'll be showing pictures of. I was at a loss for words.

HaveBlue83 10-20-2010 11:17 PM

i'll wait for it......is it a different cars front clip welded to the frame??? lol.

EklipzGSXkid 10-20-2010 11:21 PM

That would have been better..... But apparently frame rails are over-rated.

He parted it, budget built a evo 8 and had 535whp (pump/meth) in a few weeks time basically. Went low 11's on pump only already as well.

I just look at it like this. You don't have to max out a 16g or whatever turbo rite away. The $350 spent now on the HTA would be worth it in the long run, and then you can continue saving for the supporting stuff. Plus you seem to like the t25, its still working, and there is no rush so why not especially if you don't have much money invested into the 16g to begin with.
Either way even a simple evo3 16g setup can put you at 300whp (dynojet). As long as the motor is healthy and maintenance is up to date you should be good. Check out my friends car here, mod list is posted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id8UCP5dvHU

EklipzGSXkid 10-20-2010 11:28 PM

Here's for starters. It's bigger, And worse in person. There's no subframe bolt going through the subframe to the frame rail, Either. The one bolt to the control arm was finger tight, But not even on all the way. I'm glad I did not finish the car being it ''didn't need much'', And sell the car and ahve someone get killed..... Then I'd be getting the blame for this. I'm cutting the car in pieces now.

The entire harness is a MESS. Along with a few other parts of it. I pulled the trans tonite. There was no speed sensor. It had a Rubber glove blocking the whole... Ha ha ?

I am not posting any names of who owned this car, Because I have no idea which owner owned it, But I know every owner who owned it was a dsmer' and are on different forums. I'm not trying to call anyone out, I'm just posting for some people to see what gets done to these cars.
