Headed to the garage now. Time to fix my poor Talon.

I'll have to start diagnosing the fuel/ignition issues this weekend.

HaveBlue83 10-07-2010 06:12 PM

im doing cv axles tomorrow.

....then maybe LINK install time!!!!! :)

Do it. It'll change your life.

My car is running again. I completely dodged a bullet there.

Thanks for the offer. I'm just gonna stick with the 2Gb front end. Besides, it'll look even weirder with a white 2Ga Talon bumper on a red car.

Yep, that the one. lol. Autos FTL. I was getting sick of daily driving an automatic, but I really loved the car and didn't want to get rid of it. So for a measly $600, I converted it to 5 speed.

Hey man, all the other cars are too expensive to wrench on. I'm looking for 1200cc injectors for the Galant VR-4, then it'll be ready for the big turbo. And the 3000GT? Let's not get started with that thing. It's like a DSM, except everything is 3 times more expensive and 3 times more difficult to find.

HaveBlue83 10-10-2010 02:43 PM

i hear ya man. my car runs GREAT and pulls strong, but there's always some kind of noise with the AWD on decel, or a vibration, or something not perfect.

are the N/t's reliable for a DD? I see a ton of them around.

There's two schools of thought on that: They're timebombs because they're crossdressing Neons, or that they're dead balls reliable because they're crossdressing Neons.

For what it's worth, I owned two and both of them put up with plenty of abuse: a 2.4l fiddy trimmed motor, a 2l fiddy trimmed motor, being dd'd, and loaded up to capacity for multiple roadtrips, college moves, and all types of other driving. Both of them are still on the road today, and aside from maintenece, are still going strong.

bl@ckvr4 10-10-2010 05:04 PM

Indeed. Mine is reliable as ****. It's got 191k on the clock. I haven't done an oil change in 2 years. I drive it through the freezing cold and the sweltering summers. I'd trust my Eclipse to get me where I need to go over any other car I own.

Taylor, the regarding 2.4 that you had. I wanna swap mine to the 2.4L from a Stratus or something when it eventually goes. How hard was that do?

HaveBlue83 10-10-2010 05:08 PM

cool. cheap fake GSX look-alikes that are neons......uber fail win. HAHA

on another note...

IM A PICT WHORE!!!!!! freshhh picts from today :)

Well, the one car had it installed when I got it and it was janky as hell, but I more or less went over the whole thing and got it running pretty good. I'll search up a vfaq for you. I think I used on on 2gnt or something like that. I know motor mounts, some wiring, and possibly the ECU can be issues, but I think it's just like swapping anything in any car; you just need some mechanical knowledge, luck, patience, problem solving skills, and the tools to do it. Haters and guys that are cheering for you on forums help occasionally, but I'll trade them for a friend willing to wrench.

Honestly, I'm considering picking up one of the bajillion 2GB n/t Talons and DDing it while I figure out how to swap the SRT4 motor into one. Pretty sure it'd take major work, but I've seen 420a Neons with it done, so I'm sure it could be done, and that would be the sickness.

HB, I'm loving the wheels, man. The car is looking stellar.

HaveBlue83 10-10-2010 09:19 PM

^^^^that would be the **** man. i'd totally rock one.

...ahem......EklipzGSXkid....time to swappy that SRT-4 into a 2g buddy!!

and thanks guys, I am happy with the car's looks now. If i can have the drivetrain QUIET on decel then i will be fully happy...

Got Insulin? 10-10-2010 09:30 PM

I almost wonder if it's your driveshaft bushings. What's the noise sound like? Where does it seem like it's coming from?

(edit) I just noticed the Eagle badge on the back of your car! Nice touch!

HaveBlue83 10-10-2010 09:45 PM

^^yesss, that's from the 2ga bumper! it's classy lookin like the beamer things :)

i made a video clip of the noise. i'll youtube it so you can hear. it sounds like a t/c griding gear noise. i'm gonna try re-filling the t/c, im thinking its not fully filled....

this is my noise. carpet and seat are out because of a water leak that fried my stock amp....

An SRT-4 motor would be awesome, but way too hard to actually accomplish. Just the thought of modifying the wiring harness gives me the creeps. However, you can use the stock pistons out of an SRT-4 engine in the 2.4L from cloud cars(Stratus, Sebring, etc...) to lower the compression to run more boost, and save some money as well.

I don't think it would be beyond my abilities to actually swap a 2.4L into a D31A chassis. I reckon if I can swap the thing to manual, I should be able to swap to a 2.4L. Time to do some research. Yea, Taylor, if you find any info send it my way.

HaveBlue83 10-11-2010 08:15 AM

just gut the car out, and use the complete wiring harness from the dodge. my buddy had acura integra wiring in his CRX. acura cluster and all.

Got Insulin? 10-11-2010 08:22 AM

I'd likely merge what I could, and then just figure out what would need to be done with the rest. It would be rediculous, but s long as you can read a wiring diagram, have copious amounts of time, and have some sense, theorhetically, it should be a cinch. I think it'd be more problematic trying to get the shift linkage and mechanical stuff fabbed to work with the other chasis.

I wasn't doubting your skills, broseph; just saying that as a precursor to anyone curious in the future.

Also, I can't imagine going Acura to Honda to be too tough. They are the same maker. Not discrediting it, just not the same as going from Dodge, to bastardized Mitsu/Chrystler, even though it was later Chrystler-Dodge. It's still beyond me as to why they didn't just use a non-T 4G in the 2G n/a's. Ugh
