The need to gap the rings was in the back of my mind anyway, but I probably wouldn't have done it until something like this happened. Plus, it made it a little easier to put the cam and springs in. I don't think this was tune related. I've noticed sometimes it seems like the thing wont go into enrichment and goes lean. If i pedal it, the fuel comes on as needed. It was early one morning and I wasn't really awake, I stood on it to do some passing and looked down after a few seconds and saw mid 13's on the gauge. I got out of it right away but I'm sure thats when it got hurt because when I got to work there was oil running off the bottom of the hood after being shot out of the vent tubes from the valve covers lol.
We'll see what happens after I get it back together. I want to rewire the fuel pump, and add a fuel pressure gauge for testing to see whats going on with the intermittent lean issue. The good thing is , now the the rings are gapped and I have a cam in it, I really don't plan on doing anything else to it.

Poor, neglected Viper relegated to the driveway and the elements with the rest of the junk.

Got it back together, all is well. It's almost complete now. Needs a converter, and a little bit more body/paint, but thats all going to wait until spring. Boutta' dust the Viper off for it's winter upgrades.

Truck is a legitimate daily, so I had to drive it all week blowing oil out everywhere. Fixed again and put it back down to wastegate pressure until I can put some meth on it.

Ringgap?

The first one I blamed on ring gap.. Went large on round 2, .026 top, .028 bottom, definitely detonation this time, I actually heard it. Was too late. I have a 55 gal drum full of water in the bed now for counterweight with this snow. I think the weight is loading it up and putting extra sauce on it. haven't logged it.. Dont care to know lol
