dude really. u need to learn how else to deal with stress. cause how are you going to deal with stress when you find out your going to die because u smoked cigarettes for pretty much ur whole life.

it doesn't matter how much or how little u smoke. each person is different. some1 who smokes one cigarette a day can still get some sort of cigarette related illness be4 some1 who smokes a pack a day.

febreeze helps a little, but doesn't take the odor completely out..

and trust me, I've tried it all.. but when you're in a place like sugarmom's where there's no ventilation and smoking is allowed.. no amount of febreeze will get the smell completely out

Try to find ones with plastic sticks so after the candy is gone, you can still keep it in your mouth to substitute for the habitual "cigarette in the mouth" feeling. Lemme know how that works for ya if you try it.

is it weird that I'd rather risk getting cancer than becoming diabetic?

(probably weird)

i'm older than a lot of the members here, but i used to smoke for like 6-10 years. I quit cold turkey each time i quit.
I started in HS and smoked thru most of college. In college i quit for 6 months, just woke up after a hard night of partying, being really hung over i couldn't even smell a cigarette without it making me sick, and feeling my lungs in pain, so i quit. I picked it back up smoked for a few years, quit again, cold turkey.

I recently started again when i was going thru the motions of looking and purchasing a house. stress got the better of me. But I quit again right after i purchased it. it's really all about will power and determination.
everytime i would want a cigarette i would just remind myself that I don't smoke, i'm not a smoker, and then the craving would pass.

good luck, it's a tough habit to break.

making fun of a smoker or using fear tactics to make them stop is not going to help... imo.

that's true, but i never really am in smoked filled environments. the only time there's a lot of smoke around is when i have parties at my apartment..other than that i usually smoke outside when the smoke doesn't cling as much.

I believe in rational choice when it comes to crime so it's also applicable to things like smoking. Yes, I agree it's all a choice. I'm simply saying it's a matter of will power which I apparently don't possess.

I hate lollipops. But I tried chewing on straws. It worked for a while.

Agreed. I can look at black lungs or people dying of small cell lung cancer all day but it's obviously not enough.

DPancoast 12-02-2008 03:52 PM

Whoever said lollipops has the right idea. I used blowpops when I ditched extasy by passifier back in my club phase. Worked wonders.

It was fairly easy for me to stop doing all the other bad **** I used to do in high school, I can't figure out why this is so much harder.

body develops a need for nicotine.

i love smoking. i know its bad and all the problems. but its such a huge part of the day. everytime im done watching a movie, or done playing a game, i smoke. whenever i get in the car, or i think, well i wont be able to smoke for another hour in class. so i smoke. i think about quitting but i honestly dont think i want to quit enough to actually do it. once i have a strong want, then hopefully ill be able to stop.
and many of you have smoked much longer than me ive been smoking for about 6 years, and it sucked hiding it from my parents for 5 of them. that was the worst im sure some of you had to deal with that. smoke every chance you dont think youll get caught

Vr-4-Life 12-02-2008 04:37 PM
