CHAOS 11-18-2008 01:53 PM

how can you make a statement like that with no proof?

is it possible to see the future? perhaps it is and we just havent unlocked that portion of our brains yet.

CarbonIS 11-18-2008 01:55 PM

the mayans knew it. on that date the sun, moon and earth will all be aligned with the center of our galaxy.

Scientists speculate that the last time that happened the earth shifted on it's axis. There is geological proof that this happened,
and when it did, Alaska was at the equator.

They think 2012 is going to be a new 'enlightening' period or something.. that we're supposed to be more in touch with the spiritual side of things in the world.

Well isn't the whole idea behind people that are 'mediums' or that can see or sense spirits, predictors etc.. that they use more percentage of their brain power than normal people?

- is it possible to view death without dying?
- what do you see when you die? Is it like going to sleep?
- how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

grimm 11-18-2008 02:09 PM

soooo.. is the world black and white or is there gray area?

personally i think it's black and white, it's just a matter of how close you are to the black and white that it begins to turn gray...

CRAZY!!!

wtf are you homo's talking about... an axis shift of that magnitude would destroy everything... here's the deal with the rotation of the earth... we're at a 22ish degree tilt and a precession due to the earth's rotation slowing down, kind of like a quarter.

the earth has been set in its ways for billions of years and is slowly losing its momentum, hence the angle of the rotation and precession. This all started with the creating of our star which began as a spinning mass of dust (well, the entire solar system began that way)

and the mayan calendar is nothing but a calendar that was extremely well designed based on their observations of the stars and planets... it predicts nothing except for when the rotation will begin again from its starting point... whatever the hell that starting point is anyway...

following this model, wouldn't you be able to break time down into smaller incriments infinitely and
therefore prove that time never really starts?

So you've heard the conundrum of the apple and the arrow lately, huh?

omgjacki 11-18-2008 02:11 PM

Didn't you already ask that?

grimm 11-18-2008 02:13 PM

carbon, thats like breaking up segments of a line... it's infinite... but there is still always a begining...

I didn't realize the thread was on the second page already.

Here's one for the intellectuals in the room...

Schroedinger's cat.... Do you consider it alive or dead?

omgjacki 11-18-2008 02:22 PM

You mean Schrödinger's cat?

I apologize for correcting everyone at the moment. I'm pathetic. Haha

When typing the umlaut without an umlaut character, it is common practice in Europe to substitute an e in conjuction with the letter to symbolize the umlaut sound.

I speak German, I know how it works

i'd rather be "corrected" than having to read these bull**** "deep thoughts" based on nothing but assumption... all these astronomically based "thoughts" and theories are pissing me off because they're not based on fact... and i know enough now from class to actually get annoyed by it lol...

i'm going back to work...

omgjacki 11-18-2008 02:25 PM

None of it is really based on fact. It's all theory.

Renegade_ 11-18-2008 02:26 PM

Well, science in it's purity states nothing is constant, only observably consistent in certain situations.

I am baffled by this thought. All religion is based on this thing called faith, so basically i am being told to believe in this magical guy in the sky that created everything. Well where did he come from? Who created him?

I posed this question to a girl that tried to get me to go to church, and i think she believes i work with the devil. Here's the question. When you die, what if there is nothing after? You would have lived your life in fear for nothing. Or what if you die and your religion was wrong?
