back on topic please. No more Jets talk. :)

someone convince me the birds are going to do better than last year.... specifically, why the defense is going to stop the run better.

omgjacki 08-19-2008 04:56 PM

I would like to believe they will, although, I say they will every year. I can't believe until I see it.

doug 08-19-2008 05:00 PM

Oh wow.. enough of the E-Flirting on TST.. back on topic!

As the OP stated, don't muck the thread up!

omgjacki 08-19-2008 05:02 PM

Where is there "E-Flirting?" It is back on topic.

No, you are correct. TO wasn't the ONLY factor, but the determining factor. He was the VARIABLE between not making the bowl, and making it. His 1 season here was BY FAR both DOn's and the Birds most productive EVER.

and fyi, Jeff Garcia (and AJ feely too, right? was responsible for at least a couple of the Eagles playoff wins the last few years. Don hasn't won a playoff game in how long???

Westbrook (not Mcnabb) has carried the birds since his arrival. If anyone, he deserves teh credit, not donovan or reid.

A loss is a loss. If andy had better talent at SKILL POSITIONS on the team (instead of Jeremy bloom, reno mahe, Jr Reed, etc..) then we never would have been in those positions.

Andy's system WAS a good system... before the rest of the league figured it out and adapted... Its not a true west coast offense, and it is CERTAInLY not suited to McNabbs skills set.

They actually have a crew of decent receivers now, so Don has no more excuses.

What i hate is: When the Eagles do well, its thanks to Andy and Donovan...but when they suck (as they have since the superbowl...ITS EVERY EXCEPT DONOVAN AND ANDY'S FAULT.

Thats the hypocrisy that drives me crazy. No, Andy is not a "bad" coach. But he is no better than Tom Coughlin or any other coach in the division at this point.

He is not a great game day coach...hence we lose a lot of games we should win, and it always comes down to the last drive in the 4th quarter. His gameplans are well designed, but his playcalling sucks.

I understand where you're coming from, but you're forgetting to realize that Marty Morninwheg does the offensive play calling, he has since I believe the 4th game of last year. The play calling has gotten better and some mistakes have diminished, so I'm willing to give the Andy-Donovan era a clean slate for this year. They look good, have young talent, have a good veteran crew.. they just need some good freaking luck!

KingOfDelco 08-19-2008 05:06 PM

true, true... u can never underestimate the value of "good luck".... not to take anything away from teh Giants, but....

I guess we'll have to wait and see. I see their interior D being too small/undersized and the backers not being experienced enough. I'm actually excited to see a deep and talented D-backfield. Stopping the Run will again be the focal point.

Hey, if they can put up some points, (ie. not get stuck on the 20 yard line every drive) they have a good shot at making the playoffs. After that, the competition steps up a good deal, and I don't think they can compete with teh top NFC teams, and def not the top AFC teams.

damn that was a lot of catching up i jus did, 4 pages and a lot of quotes lol, i must say westbrook is the truth and with out him the eagles offense is trash they r my 2nd team so i will b rooting for them but they def. did not do nearly enough this offseason to come close to the cowboys or a superbowl this year.. SAINTS FTW... but dallas is way to strong and the giants looked amazing last night against clevland whos supposed to b a playoff caliber team and they put up like 30 in the first quarter... derick (i know i spelled his first name wrong) Hixon was the truth in that game with burress sitting because of injury... sad to say but eagles will not go far into playoffs this year if at all....

I can't believe I'm about to admit this in an Eagles thread, but I LOVE the Saints. I really do. Reggie Bush is the man.

biggame 08-19-2008 05:58 PM

although w the saints, Bush has a lot of work to do... he has not lived up to expectations n frustrated me all of last year! but hopefully imo the eagles n saint in NFC championship haha id like my 2 teams dualing it out, but saints will take it... I scared of the cowboys tho!!

It was just an off year. I think he'll do better this year. At least he better. Haha

As for the Cowboys, they have always been the team to beat for the Eagles and up until last year, we were killing them. We'll see what happens. Only a few weeks until the first Philadelphia vs. Dallas game.

biggame 08-19-2008 06:13 PM

dnt they play cowboys week 2 mon monday night football? i could b wrong i follow the saints a lot more then eagles but i dk...

omgjacki 08-19-2008 06:27 PM

Yes they do!

Eagles don't play the Saints this year though.

biggame 08-19-2008 06:42 PM

lucky for the eagles bc we all kno the eagles dnt have anything for the saints this year... but we def need to get rid of mcnabb soon, we signed him to a long term huge deal way too ealy he isnt the franchize championship caliber QB for the Eagles type offense... time for someone new... that and another solid WR w Westbrook that no team can stop bc of his versitility, the eagles would b good, with their great defense...

omgjacki 08-19-2008 07:23 PM

Last year the Eagles beat the Saints 38-23. Their record was 10-6, ours was 9-7.

yea last year they beat them n all my boys were over giving me **** hahaha like 15 of my friends rooting for eagles n i was solo for the saints! but thats y i said this year the eagles dnt have **** for the saints cuz if there was a rematch this year the saint r puttin atleast 14-17 on them, unless mcnabb shows a whole new side of him when under pressure... but seriously like i stated i think the cowboys r the team to beat in NFC and the saints n giants r the next 2 best in NFC eagles r going to need a lot of luck they just dnt have enough peices yet...

omgjacki 08-19-2008 07:36 PM

The Cowboys were always the team to beat in the NFC and like I said before, we were doing a damn good job of beating them up until last year when they handed our asses to us with a final of 38-17! We beat them in the second game, but it was no where close to the damage they did to us. Final was 10-6.

biggame 08-19-2008 07:39 PM

haha jacki on point w her football!! didn;t expect that, im glad theres a football thread ish it was on everything tho not jus the eagles but it all good....

omgjacki 08-19-2008 07:42 PM

So start an "official" NFL thread lol. Believe me, you're not the only one that has another favorite.

omgjacki 08-19-2008 07:54 PM

As for the Jets. Last three seasons against them from most recent games:

October 14, 2007 Eagles 16 - Jets 9
August 30, 2007 Eagles 11 - Jets 13
September 1, 2006 Eagles 17 - Jets 20
September 1, 2005 Eagles 14 - Jets 34

Okay, so they beat us 3/4 games. Their records those years, however, were 2005: 7-9, 2006: 12-4, and 2007: 7-9. Ours were 2005: 8-8, 2006: 13-3, and 2007: 9-7.

Clearly we are the better team. Just look at the stats.
