so i was expecting to get my scanner in the mail today but all i got was the title. a lil angry bout that but its nice to be able to drive it now. CEL code coming soon, i want this light off!

PaleDSM 09-24-2007 01:32 AM

If you are near Hatfield swing by JNZ and I'll pull your code. Or just swing through an Autozone and they will pull it for free.

97TurboDSM 09-24-2007 10:16 AM

thanks man i appreciate it. theres prolly 4573084753472 codes on there but i'll get them soon. not sure how far hatfield is from me but i know for sure there isnt an autozone within an hour of me

so i finally got the ecu out to look at it and my fears were confirmed. two, maybe three black rectangular things are fried up. gonna have to go research to find out exactly what they are but might be needing a new eprom (which this one was).

97TurboDSM 09-25-2007 03:02 PM

i need someone that would be willing to help me change a axle/transmission seal. i already have the seal/gasket i just need a hand or two. also if anyone in the area has an eprom ecu i need that too

turbo4g63 09-25-2007 04:00 PM

when are you doing it.

97TurboDSM 09-25-2007 04:11 PM

whenever i can get a hand. im trying to figure out a cluster**** of audio stuff right now but hopefully before sunday

turbo4g63 09-25-2007 04:18 PM

i should be able to help. I can probably give you a hand Sunday afternoon if thats when you would want to do it. All you need is some grease, some parts cleaner, a prybar or a large screwdriver and a large socket to tap the new one into place. Don't forget to pick up some new fluids, i reccommend bg syncroshift...jnz put it in my trans when they did my clutch and it shifts like butter now. i also found this on dsmtuners. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/show...al+replacement

97TurboDSM 09-25-2007 04:29 PM

thanks a bunch for the link. sunday afternoon is cool but it'll have to be around 430-5 or so. i have two baseball games on sunday in philly. im going to try and get a ride because my ecu is out and fried and i dont feel like driving it like that anymore. so if you'd be around at 5pm or so on sunday that'd be awesome. we're prolly gonna have some beer at my house for the games and such so you're more than welcome to join in for your help

turbo4g63 09-25-2007 04:35 PM

sweet...just pm me your address and i'll swing by. its not hard...the only PITA is if it gets stuck in there...but thats when a bigger pry bar comes into play

Yea if it gets stuck is sucks balls.

Get some pics of your ecu friage so I know what to look for on mine lol

97TurboDSM 09-25-2007 06:57 PM

taking pictures now.

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s...rboDSM/ECU.jpg

the 3 black solenoids on the right are fried up.
IC107 is ISC coils A1 and A2
IC108 is Purge and EGR solenoids
IC109 is A/C and Fuel pump relays

Kevin 09-25-2007 08:38 PM

Wow I am gonna have to do that. So its just the IAC problem with your car and all that is fried? If that part of the ecu is fried do you think that no matter how many IAC's you put in they will all blow up?

97TurboDSM 09-25-2007 08:44 PM

see thats what im afraid of. i think the isc solenoid burning up caused the other two to go out. theres a vfaq topic that entails resetting the ecu and i'm going to have to try that this time because if i plug in this ecu and the same thing happens i wont be happy. im wondering if i can just clean the board and replace the solenoids because they all look to be identical except for placement. im going to have to do more reading to find out but i think i have a few options

97TurboDSM 09-28-2007 02:40 PM

so does anyone know if its possible to replace those fried up solenoids or am i forced to buy another ecu? any input appreciated.

97TurboDSM 10-04-2007 01:27 PM

well i'll be sending the ecu out to get fixed soon and i figure i might as well get tuned while im at it cause it needs it BAD. someone HELP! :help:

Why get it fixed when there's plenty for sale in the DSMtuners classifieds. When I get the time to check to see if my ECU is fried I am gonna get it from someone on there. They go for like $200-$225.

97TurboDSM 10-04-2007 01:53 PM

because getting fixed is cheaper than replacing?

lol it is? I didn't think that would be the case. Usually never is. Where did you send it?

97TurboDSM 10-04-2007 02:29 PM

didnt send it yet, but got a quote to replace the drivers that are fried for about half of what it costs to get a new ecu..dealing with jnztuning atm
