Anyone ever get shingles before? :-p

Snoozie 12-28-2007 04:05 PM

No, but Ive heard that its painful. Do you have them?

edit-you do mean the chicken pox type thing right?

Kerplunk105 12-28-2007 04:16 PM

isnt shingles like herpes but its the same thing that causes chickenpox?

ITSTOCK 12-28-2007 04:20 PM

Yea, everyone that has had chickenpox has the virus herpes zoster, as this same virus causes chickenpox (completely different than "herpes" that everyone thinks of!!!, it's a different virus), which lies dormant in your spinal cord until it decides to come out, if ever. I developed a rash out of nowhere on xmas eve, and I took my first day off from work in 4 years to go to the freaking doctor today. Luckily it's almost done with, and isn't painful to me. Every once in a while it feels like I'm being gently poked by a needle, more funny than painful. The doc said that most people need serious pain killers for it!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shingles

I just have about a 2" square spot to the side of my abs. I don't have any other symptoms either, so I guess if you get shingles, I got it pretty damn easy! I was wondering if anyone had them though, how long it lasted. I'm reading they could be completely gone by next week at the rate their going.

Snoozie 12-28-2007 04:27 PM

I just had this feeling I was going to say "oh ive heard they're painful" and you were going to say something about the things that go on a roof.....

ITSTOCK 12-28-2007 04:31 PM
