Been a bit of an optic whore the last few months.... I went from budget red dots to a budget FACOG to an H-1 micro to a TA01NSN Reflex and now a new EXPS-2 with my PA 3x mag (that the H-1 liked to be blurry with)

I think i finally found my ideal setup. I didn't wanna be a fanboy but it happened lol. The triji is nice but dim @ low light. great for plinking tho! I havent shot the Eotech yet. I'll get a FTS mount soon. Right now it's on a QR mount

You really don't even need punches to build the lower. This past weekend when I left my work truck at the shop, I used a good nylon screwdriver and a quality small screwdriver/eyeglass screwdriver set along with wire cutters/dykes to build one. Also, I used an allen key (for the takedown pin). It takes about 5 minutes for me to build one now.

The ONLY "complicated" part in that it might take you a few tries is the takedown pin. Grab an extra piece of cardboard or thin bubble wrap as well when you use the punches alongside the receiver.

It's incredibly easy, and it certainly doesn't hurt to have the RIGHT tools, but not having them doesn't effect the lower so long as you are a bit more careful. The only tools that you should even consider purchasing are the 3/32 punch and a 1/8 punch. A stock wrench is also nice to have and should be the only thing that you need to get from a "gun" store. The punches are under $5 a piece. The stock wrench should be under $30.

Oh nice, well thank you! I'll be sure to pick up those pieces and hopefully put it together without messing up my lower haha

I think somebody earlier mentioned that I should tape up the frame.. Maybe that blue painters tape?

I held the spring and detent for the pivot pin down with a box cutter blade and the pin slides right in over it, easiest way I've seen! And no ****ing way you build a lower in 5 minutes!!!

I used painters tape, the only part you have to be careful with is the trigger guard roll pin, if you break the ear off you're dead in the water, I did that first.

The box cutter seems like a very good improvised tool.

Do I get to take one home as a party favor if I come over with a stopwatch

I was at target master and a guy came in with a nice colt that he tried to put a magpul trigger guard in. He broke one of the ears off, man what a shame.

Aww man, that is such a shame.. I bet one of my fabricators could fix it but it'll never be the same. And when I said "I did it first" I meant the trigger guard, not broke the tab off

HaveBlue83 01-16-2013 12:17 AM

damn how do people do that? it's like a big LEGO set lol.

yeah i can't see how anthing will pass, theres so many pissed off people now. What was the '93 ban like? i started shooting right about 2001. I don't remember the "ban" happening, I was like 9 at the time. I just remember "pre-ban" AR's costing $1,200 and stuff. what resistance was there then?

Good bye "assault weapons", good bye high capacity mags over 10 rounds, most likely to see executive orders..

Using children to push a political agenda... what a scumbag.

Found a great read today. I'm questioning a few things, but overall, it's pretty good

Thinking about getting one a sig p938, just debating on the color even though the blackout is the only one in stock right now. Trying to decide if the others are worth holding out for. Any opinions?

the blackout is pretty sick looking though....
