Public Service Announcement:
The first Whatever thread is going to get locked at 70k replies, and a new one will be started. From now on I'm going to try to keep it to 20k replies per thread, to ease up on some unnecessary load on the server.

haha because it should have been done forever ago and i cant keep waiting for the next 'best' number...

i don't really think that thats going to help. if the creators of the software did their job correctly, and i'd assume they did, it shouldn't affect anything.

you're getting a single call to the database for each page on load. you can see from the url that that is the case.

i think the biggest issue the whatever thread has is that it has the most users at just about any time and we're all posting and sometimes hitting refresh to get see a reply.

ultimately... the only way to save down on server load for this thread would be to enable caching... but with how often the thread is updated, that would be horrible.

in short, 20k posts and 70k posts shouldn't be affecting the server load by very much.

How much disk space is TST using at the moment?
