Yea but I don't think uppers are "going anywhere", you can get a complete one for 500ish, there's just a lot of parts involved in building a gun from stripped parts

~Brian~ 12-22-2012 12:26 AM

True, but I've always wanted to build my own. Get really good parts and know how to take it all down if I need to.

Any suggestions for parts kits for the upper and lowers?

And maybe a link to some of those $500ish uppers just to satisfy my curiosity. haha

I keep hearing that, but I'm just concerned about the "all in one" drop in idea...

Geissele super 3 gun. Get it and you will never look back. I installed one on my ar when I built it, now my brother and my father went out and bought one. I have been stop at ranges by people thinking I was shooting a f/a gun and showed them that its not a machinegun. They couldn't believe a semi auto was shooting that fast.

Installed the new goods on the AK, sights are not here yet :(

I don't remember the last time I saw you but I think you're a bit shorter than me. The factory wood stock was not nearly long enough, I barely feel comfortable with this one on full compact mode and even then its alraedy 2 inches longer.

Got my Tech-Sights in today, gonna install tonight. I want to turn this AK into a fun-gun, for long and short range. Really like the ATI stock, almost want one for my Nagant too.

I'm six feet tall, not exactly short haha. I've owned 10+ ak's and never had an issue with the length of the stock. At the end of the day it's whatever you are most comfortable with though, I just think the woods ore aesthetically pleasing. All personal preference.

::edit:: pleaseeeeee don't put a tactical stock on the Nagant, that's like putting one on an m1

Gotta get it to eject rounds first. Can't get rid of that sticky bolt to save my life I think the bolt needs some polishing cause I've done the chamber a few times already

InfiniteMotors 12-22-2012 11:48 PM

I'm still looking for AR/AK stuffs. Started before craze, now kicking myself a bit. If anyone has one they'd part with or trade, let me know.

This is for my Mosin Nagant but as far as AKs go, some might say you can even lube them with mud haha

I was gonna say you can lube them with sand

cmr076 12-23-2012 02:19 AM

Alex, did you check the mag assembles? It can interfere with smooth bolt operation/extraction, also, the extractor spring and or pin could be worn to ****.

I'm not that close to my rifle

Dave, wehnever I extract a fired round from the chamber it has a mark on it like it was scratched. same mark, same spot, every time. If I just cycle an unfired round it comes out like butter. Gets stiffer after 20 shots or so

Ak and ar are wayyyyy different... Perfect example:

This gun was dug up after 18 years, not cleaned, had some motor oil poured in it and it was good to go

Alex, ill check with my buddy Jon, he has cases of nagants haha and knows them inside and out. did you check the mag like I said? And the extractor spring and pin? Are you using lacquered ammo? Does it happen with all ammo? When you polished the barrel, how did you know how far to polish it? Sme people use a 12 gauge pore purse on a power droll to make sure there's no burrs or inconsistencies.

Yep did that. I dunno if it got it all though, maybe need polishing compound. Usually when you get in there to polish the chamber, it won't let you go down the barrell because of how small it is. Yes laquered ammo, but I haven't shot anything else. I'll post a pic of the marking on the casings.
