The only thing im worried about is fixing my car and making it to the meet this year.

All the bs in that thread is annoying already (havent read it since last night). It isnt what a car meet should be. No matter how big it is. Im glad its going towards make a wish but i do wish everyone could get along and not make it so damn complicated.

Car meets succeed when theyre simple.

+1 to that

I feel bad, but at the same time I didn't know that and can't be responsible for the cars being as loud as they are. I did however go over to let them know I would be moving the cars again.

Given that extra information, now i understand what happened. It was really strange seeing that guy walk up the driveway. Its very noble of you letting them know when you were moving the cars. It would have been easy to make a mess by just moving the cars alot and letting it be loud.

I think that's the whole thing. Before it was just "Everyone gather at sonic at this time and date and donate." bam done, good time, money raised, no problem. Now it's all "we gotta get this set up with this sponsor and blah blah blah".

Has anyone ever installed this type of garage door lock?

If so, i am trying to find a brand that is more durable. Do you have any suggestions where to look or what brands to buy? I cant find anything.

Well.. I think the Make-A-Wish Foundation is a good choice for charity. I'm going to go and enjoy it, despite my lack of 'cool' car, and that's that.

sleeperSL2 01-25-2010 12:08 PM

I'll go..but don't think i'll be able to bring the saturn..maybe i could bum a ride.

Yeah I didn't like inglourious much either. It just didn't keep my attention (then again I do have a major ADD problem).

Seriously.

I don't know what is going on either. All I know is that I will be going, but staying out of all the political bs.

that is besides the point. the other site was registered the same day i mentioned the "sonicmeet.com" url on this forum. which was the day i registered it... both sites are registered on the same day.

oh well... they could have had something better than whats up done. i'm still going to work on my site once i've got the time. going to be a bit better than whats up now... or i'm sure ever will be

back to more important things. time to get started on nick's site

Well I mean I was at Champs and I heard the discussions and I was like oh ok I guess Jon plans these things. Then I get an email from new sweden saying that they are collaborating with TST to bring the meet. And really I'm sitting there wondering who is bringing the meet? Because the meet is really just a date decision, a phone call, and a thread post. The charities and whatnot are fairly irrelevant. So bottom line is that the bickering is over nothing... except......

Really it's kind of twisted because this is what happens when everyone organizes their thoughts and ideas around "tst" but really "tst" is owned by Bryan and that's it. I don't have a problem with Bryan making money on it because he deals with all the crap that comes with running the site (maintenance, hacks, server space, vb license, etc), but all of the content and the meets belong to the community. That's why I've never liked any of the meets calling themselves "tst" meets... That is unless tst becomes managed and owned by many people and all decisions are made democratically. I'm used to working on and around open source software and everyone acts like TST follows that model but it just doesn't. TST isn't ours. We're just here for the ride.

Scapegoat 01-25-2010 12:25 PM

Piku... tst is ours... we make tst. the community... not bryan. he owns the domain and runs the place. without everyone here, its a useless website. we're not here for the ride... we're the drivers. Bryan and the original members got the ball rolling years ago... but it spread because of everyone involved over the years.

i understand the business aspect of taking a well known meeting place and date... but it doesn't sound like anyone that originated it was involved at all... and that's a shame. this isn't the 4th annual TST sonic meet... this is the first. Jon and whomever else, Chaz, etc, planned the meet without it being a forum specific affair.

i'm going to go still... not because of who is throwing it... but because my friends will be there.
