this is going to be a really ****ty question...but if i have hotter plugs, should i gap them larger than spec? Since i put in these newer plugs, ive been having a little bit of a hesitation issue with slight backfire under load at low RPM

Why did you get hot plugs in the first place? If the spark plug is gapped to original spec, then enlarging the gap won't really do a lot.

wont it just make it worse?
