I am looking for a job this semester. Commuting 45minutes to an hour one way along with being in school from 8:30 to 3 really narrows down a lot of jobs. Most jobs that I could have had, I couldn't because the hours I could work did not work for the employer, so I was SOL. This semester will be a lot easier hence why I am looking for a job.

Not ready to pick up my first house yet and GF is pushing the big M word so thats on the horizon, but it definitely pays to not have a mortgage or rent. Plus, then you can spend like a nut :)

i'm spending 1300 on rent a month... i'm looking forward to renting a house with my mom early next year and being able to drop about half that

Funny story mine caught fire too, but it wasn't the car's fault. I ran an unfused 12v through the car to power my little lcd tv I got in japan. I hooked it up to a power source that was fused to 60amp for the subs. It must have gotten caught under the seat rails and one day I was coming south on 95 and the thing just lit up. Smoke filled the car almost instantly. I couldn't breathe or see. I managed to pull over and I cleared some of the smoke to see what it was. I knew my car was going to burn if I didn't stop it so I grabbed the glowing wire with my bare hand (well actually through a towel but the towel burned almost instantly) and yanked it to break the circuit. I'm surprised I don't have a scar from that. It really hurt. In retrospect I should have let the car burn or found a tool but I'm sure insurance wouldn't have paid and I had sooooo little money then.

Mine is north of that. But on the bright side I just refinanced for a nice reduction (but the costs blew a bunch of turbo budget).

My commute was from 7AM from Newtown would get me into Philadelphia by 845 for my 9AM class. I then had 3 - 5 classes with my latest being at 8PM and I had to hang around the cafe/lounges/etc all day. Then I'd commute back home and get in around 9. I still worked. I had a dell 600m laptop with 2 primary batteries and 2 modular batteries. Used them all up throughout each day - working and going to school.

Russiankid just wants sympathy for the very little that he does, if we all bitched about everything we do on a daily basis, his head would explode. He still needs time to learn, thats all.

Yep, that is all I want. Just sympathy because obviously I complain all day everyday and you know exactly what goes on in my life.

The allusion to $300 was MS units. During the daytime I worked doing web design.

You have to admit, you have it pretty cake. You obviously can't be paying car insurance x 2 + gas x 2 because you have no income. I think my car insurance every 6 months is $1250 on two cars. **** its been a while but I think my parking @ drexel was $250+ a month.

LOL Man it sounds like you party like we used to in rural lancaster county. The people out here (towards philly) don't know how it's done. Too many people, too many cops. Imagine living in a place that has no local law enforcement, where traffic on the way to school means having to pass an old person at 80mph on a back road barely wide enough for two cars. One state trooper patrols once a month because the barracks is 25+ miles away. Welcome to my teenage years. I do miss that aspect of them.

I don't know anything when it comes to web design, sadly.

I know I have it easier than others, but its not like I get **** handed to me daily. I don't pay for insurance nor gas, but then again my parent's aren't paying for my tuition or books. Insurance for me is ridiculously cheap, which is why my dad offered to pay for it. My parking is free, which is a good thing. I am moving out in 1.5 years and will be paying for it with my own money.

You got your car handed to you, your insurance, and your gas. How is that not handed to you? I had to buy all that **** lol. I was your age driving a 5 series - it was not ridiculously cheap. I think $2k annually w/ no points.

Yeah, I went to RIT and financed it and dropped out after 2 terms. I tried to get a full time job overnight because I was having financial problems because my mom was too broke to take on my car insurance. I got fired in the first week for missing a schedule change. I needed gas to drive back and forth to school and I had a smoking habit too. Plus the chicks up there pretty much demanded a date or beer to even touch a boobie. I joined a fraternity and our pledge project meant about $550 on my 2 credit cards. I had a $1000 limit. Nobody ever paid me back even one cent. I began to pay one credit card bill with the other and things snowballed. Now I make more than any of my pledge brothers. And my loans for those 2 terms have been paid off for years. Win. (I'm not encouraging any of you to not go to college. I am just an awesome self-learner).

SoStock92 12-29-2009 01:43 PM

LOL wait a minute Russia, weren't you just the other day complaining that you didn't want to do something because of gas money?

You missed the part where I said I don't get **** handed to me daily. My E34, I didn't ask for it. My dad offered and I said ok. I don't mind my Honda. I rebuilt the whole thing with my own money when I had a job back in New Orleans.

My parents pay for gas to commute to school. Otherwise, going out, etc...they don't pay for.
