And just for conversation's sake, here's a link to a dude who tears up Lambos more than I ever would, when comparing them to Ferraris. Disclaimer: His views do not represent mine. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...1120115AAkUBLG

I'd rock a Lambo, but given the choice it would be the last car I'd spend that kind of coin on. And I've never heard of having to work your way up to a 430... I've heard its like that for the big dogs, but not the 430.

nick you wanna come over for some cod or forza?

jpalamar 12-23-2009 04:20 PM

Thinking of renting Julie an exotic car for a day as a kinda after Christmas gift. What do you guys think? 360 Sypder for about $1000 for a day. Bad gift even though she is an avid car person?

Scapegoat 12-23-2009 04:22 PM

is she going to be ok with you spending that much to rent a car for a day? thats the first thing you have to consider lol

if this happens I'll hop on and play either.

Oakes 12-23-2009 04:23 PM

Bad gift if you're going more than 100 miles and have any kind of smearing on the driving record, a 360 is no where near as "tame" as a GTO so I would reccommend someone with more experience in driving "raw" power. However, it would be awesome at the same time, I would just recommend it for sometime in the spring and no aggressive back road driving in it as boring as that sounds.

Snoozie 12-23-2009 04:23 PM

**** just got real.

Ken, we're pregaming at my house if you want to meet up here. Not sure what time you're getting out of work. :)

Oakes 12-23-2009 04:24 PM

Marcus, I have a beer run to make first, I'll hit u up...

...even though I'm already in your house.

She doesn't care what I spend my money on as long as my bills are paid and I have some in savings.

My driving record is OK, aside from 1 ticket from years back and hers is flawless.

What do you mean by tame? She sold her 05 GTO that ran mid to high 12s a few months back. I don't see how the 360 is raw power as spec wise it is slower then hers and I would assume it handles better. I don't think she would do any crazy driving with it other then hard acceleration, which we do in my GTO just about everytime we are out and about, but wouldn't take it over normal speeds we would drive my own car at. My plan would be to pick it up in Philly, spend the day in that area and maybe take it for a nice cruise somewhere fairly local. Rental says it inlcudes 100 miles for the day which would be plenty. Maybe I'm just not getting it?

I would of course have to insure the car for the day, no biggie. Weird that they want a $5000 damage deposit though, I figured that was what my insurance is for but they can swipe my credit card cause its just going back on when we return it anyway.

Hmm, that sounds like a nice gift. But i get a feeling that it might not be as special for her as it would be for a guy into cars.

Considering how much you are going to spend and that you will be leaving for the military soon, i would consider spending that amount of money for a weekend in NYC or Atlantic City. Get the couples massage with her, a nice meal, and a show/concert.

HickRocket1258 12-23-2009 04:39 PM

I don't think that's really a good gift idea. She might be an avid car person but I'd want that kind of money spent some other way.

Oakes 12-23-2009 04:40 PM

You have to drive the car to really understand the feeling of how different it is from your typical powerful cars. Raw as in...you will feel everything, it will react to your every move and if you so much as over react to anything, the car will too. I drove an F430 shortly after driving a Z06 corvette, the feel was entirely different and in relation to past Ferrari's the F430 is more "tame" as in more driver assists.

Namdoog would know more specifically about the 360 but its a machine built for track days, not to be fast and a daily driver. Its hard to explain without feeling it first hand, its different, it doesnt have the creature comforts and driving assists that her GTO had regardless of it running 12secs or not, nor is it as heavy with the same or more power. In short, you cant just jump into this car and expect it to react like your typical RWD car, cause it wont and if you dont know how to handle it then itll bite you in the ass a lot quicker than the GTO ever would.

Im making it sound like a 1000hp Ferrari on skinny tires, and its not, im just saying dont jump in and whip it around especially if its under 40 degrees out.
