also changed my oil for the hell of it and fred came by to help me button up a few things including wideband install, sidemarker lights, an ebrake bracket we didnt put in, and... that might be it.

see ya at the meet tonight, hopefully no rain.

you say you are breaking it in, did you remember to use dino oil?

TROLL 08-10-2007 11:27 AM

yeah... using valvoline conventional 5w30. changed it yesterday at about 200 miles just in case there was any crap sitting in the engine from before i bought it, i'll probably change again at 1000, then gonna stick to the 3000 mile thing. i've always used purolator pureone filters and switched to M1 synthetic on the last motor at 10k. i do plan to switch to synth but not sure if it'll be M1 or something else this time around...

and thanks guys... i am definitely proud of what we were able to do with it. visually its a little underwhelming, really just looks like a stock sti with a fmic and an intake, its impossible to understand what went into making that happen without seeing the photos at least. but i didnt do it to impress anyone, i'm just in it for that fat midrange torque curve :)

He lives.

Impressive work troll. That's was a pretty fast turn-around. I was expecting it to take alot longer.

If you don't mind me asking.... What happened to the donor car?? Rear-end collision???

TROLL 08-31-2007 10:22 AM

Donor car was bought at auction as a total, honestly not sure exactly. Hope that response wasnt too late, haha.

Anywho, got some new photos...

Installed an APS DR525 Stealth FMIC a few days ago and now i'm mid-way on doing an APS Turbo Inlet Pipe, TGV Deletes, and Hondata Phenolic Spacers.

new sexy red piping

coming apart to pull the intake manifold for the APS Turbo Inlet and TGV Delete

pete and my manifold... 2 points for someone who can find a similar photo taken a long time back, emo style

super sexy JDM v7 intake ports, from the heads i am NOT using (19mm socket inserted for scale)

super poo-ey looking 2007 USDM heads that are on my motor...wtf m8? (19mm socket inserted for scale)

again with the texture on the ports for the intake side of the heads... did they crinkle coat the inside too??

these are TGVs for all those who are wondering, they sit between the intake manifold and the heads (one gutted, one not)

getting started on gutting them

they're apart

opening them up even more

Buster 08-31-2007 10:26 AM

Is there a reason you did this instead of using the JDM mani that you have... that I want lol?

HuffRex 08-31-2007 10:26 AM

Looking good Bryan. Keep it going ur almost to your tune!

TROLL 08-31-2007 10:35 AM

yeah i thought about that, but the jdm mani isnt for drive by wire. the tgv's MAY have worked, but i would have also needed the fuel rails and i just figured there'd be more potential problems on that unknown swap than just a normal TGV delete which i have done before and know what to expect.

Buster 08-31-2007 10:37 AM

oh, hey wanna return my PM then lol

Snoozie 08-31-2007 10:46 AM

Buster 08-31-2007 10:55 AM

oh!!! wow you are good.

JeEvE 08-31-2007 06:32 PM

Congrats on the swap, looks super clean.

Did you plug up the holes going across from the rod after removing the TGVs? I have "Swirl Valves" in my lower intake manifold that I plan to remove and I was just curious what you did with the holes.

TROLL 09-04-2007 01:50 PM

yes i had the holes welded shut at a local shop and i ported them so they are very smooth and open now. i'm going to polish them a bit tonight and hopefully get started with reassembly... i'll take some more photos of the carnage and post them up...

TROLL 09-08-2007 11:02 PM

forgot to post this... i've got other photos on the way of the TGV Delete and APS Turbo Inlet install...
