Since you're not listening to any advice, I'll tell you what you want to hear.
If you're thinking about using a camera to start a business, even if it's just a very slight chance that you start one, I think you should buy a Nikon D3 and call it a day. Why waste the money on buying a D40/60/80/90 when in the end you're just going to want to upgrade...and while your at it, you're going to need lenses covering from super wide to telephoto, so the 14-24, 24-70, and 70-200 should cover you so the camera can take the photos for you. |
Lulz. This was an awesome 4.30am read!
Thanks ya'll! |
Is the photogrpahy class's a creditied coarse!
|
yes teh portogphray class's a cretided corse.
stop bull****ting and just listen to everyone. you're listening to professionals who make money to shoot. . . . . . either buy something cheap like everyone said or like vwcorradokid said, get a d3, get some fixed low aperture lenses, get one for every focal range, get some zooms, get a tripod, get a strobe setup, get triggers, get umbrellas, get soft boxes, get stands, get backdrops, get a studio, get an assistant, etc. and don't listen to a word anyone in here said, because we are all just trying to help you from our own experience. be courteous, whether you buy a camera now or forget the whole schpeal. we all just saved you money. |
yea, well Ill look into the Canon G10, maybe ill take a ride out to circuit city or best buy today and check it out.
|
yet again you're not listening. it was mentioned before to forget about CC, BB, etc and go to a Camera Shop where the employees will be able to give you helpful information.
|
Lets just let it go... I'm more focused now on having this as a good resource for others in the future who may be interested in getting a camera...
|
i guess you're right. make it an FAQ sticky?
|
I am listening, someone mention that id look at the Canon G10, That doesnt mean I have to go to a Camera shop to do it, Troll You mention I should go to Allen's in PA. ill defintely look there as well.
|
So basically are saying, I ought to take a Photography Class, and Get a Non SLR Camera, for the time being correct. and I that i should go to a useful Camera shop to get the feel of a Camera and to learn more about it as I go along.

if you're close to a Community College, register for their introduction to digital photography course, or whatever the hell they call it. your teacher will then suggest what to get. |

I guess Now the only choice, I have is to look over the information you guy's gave me.
|
the reason we suggested a P&S is because they are generally easier to get used to/use than a dslr is. If you are going to be taking a class, an entry level dslr would be perfect because the professor and students will be able to help each other learn the uses of the camera. we were simply advising against buying a prosumer/professional camera before you are ready. the choice is yours and only yours to make, we're here to give you sound advice as having gone through all of this before.

This post is a great area to leanr more about photography and stuff in that catorgory. I have a olympus sp-500uz which i guess is a good point and shoot camera but after using it i have found that i like photograpphy and never go to a car event with out it. My dad got the D80 a little while ago and i play with the thing all the time. After playing with his D80 i was thinking of getting something similar. I know nikon makes good ones but what else is out there i want to check out different brands to see which one is the best and maybe u guys can help with ur experience. It would be greatly appriciated for ur help
|
'round here we have a pretty even split between nikon/canon shooters. it really comes down to what you feel comfortable with. I shoot canon, i've also shot nikon and I couldn't be happier. just get out and try a few different things to see what you like.
|
Ok thanks im probally gonna play around with my dads D80 and try to find a photography course since my school dosent have one which sucks and ill probally be out looking for one on my own
|
they're are really nice photo's none to less, maybe one day I could hook up with one of you' guy's and we can do camera comparsion and see which one i Like best that's P&S as you call it. there's alot of class's i like to take, including Firefighting in the future, thank's for the info keep it going.

yes i have looked at the canon but im not looking at something like that my olympus already has mostly the same options as the canon. After using my dads D80 i am thinking of going more towards one like that i guess u can call it more professiotnal. My olympus is a good point and shoot camera but i want to move on but thanks for the help |

just for the record, I Like Rice DOES NOT use a point and shoot camera. He is a professional photographer with years of experience and thousands of dollars in camera equipment. im not sure if you're confusing what has been said but none of the people that have given you advice are shooting with a point and shoot camera

ah thanks. i was speaking more towards their DSLR counterparts. stillen, if you're thinking of seriously getting into photography, getting a DSLR is not a bad idea. they can be had for pretty cheap nowadays. the only reason we said to consider a point and shoot is because in your first few posts you said you were looking at very high end cameras, and THOSE at this point would be overkill. an entry level DSLR on the other hand, would be fine.

Stillen. I would highly recommend a Canon Rebel XTi. They are very user friendly and a great beginner camera. As it happens, I have one for sale if you would be interested. I would favor the XTi over say the Nikon D40/x/60 because the canon is able to autofocus its lenses as the D40/x/etc. will only autofocus certain lenses.

yeah im gonna look into mercer but right now with college and two jobs its kinda hard too. Well wait since i work at mercer as i lifeguard maybe i can get some kind of deal lol but first im gonna do research with books and interent to see what level class i should take and stuff
