I spoke to someone at American Muscle last night who was cleaning house to see if there was any full time spots open that could suit my needs. He seemed interested in putting my name out somewhere in there. He knows the least I could make too. Glad him and I were both on the same page.

jpalamar 12-13-2011 11:47 AM

Nice, that is a company I wouldn't mind getting in myself.

russiankid 12-13-2011 12:12 PM

Bought a JL audio 10" w3 sub for 70 bucks with a box. The kid sold it thinking it was blown, but in actuality he had the polarities reversed so it didn't work. Hooked it up the right way and it works like a charm.

If you had an IT background I think that would b e someone they would consider trying to hire.

jpalamar 12-13-2011 02:13 PM

I couldn't do IT in a company. I would be annoyed too fast.

Reversing the polarity will have the sub fire inward instead of outward. not make it "not work"

IT Background you say..... I have one of those.....

jpalamar 12-13-2011 02:40 PM

I have an IB background (Information Bacon Technology)

grimm 12-13-2011 03:34 PM

so bored.

jpalamar 12-13-2011 03:36 PM

^ same. My boss is traveling this week and have nobody to even try to look busy in front of. And these dumbasses in the office keep spiking the thermostate to extremes. Its 78* in the office right now... to f'ing hot.

Thanks for clarifying that, either way it didn't work and now it does. However, now I need to mess with my amp as it heats up.

Big_Jim 12-13-2011 04:05 PM

what kind of amp are you running? you said its a 10w3, right? dual 2 4 or 6 ohm load?

I have a cheap setup, I am running a 2 channel Dual 400 watt amp. Its cheap but gets the job done, I also have it bridged. And the speaker I just bought I believe is a 4 ohm, its back home so I haven't hooked it up yet. I am actually more of a noob at this than anything, but since my amp is a two channel amp I have the outputs to the speaker setup so that the + comes from one channel, and the - from the other since I am running a single speaker. After I did it this way, the amp started to get warm, not hot, but warm. That normal? It sounds good and hits hard, but don't want to fry anything.

Big_Jim 12-13-2011 07:47 PM

well, it all depends on how the speaker is wired up, and what the ohm load is of the speaker.

dual 2 ohm you could come out with either a 1 ohm or 4 ohm load, dual 4 ohm will give you 2 or 8 ohm load, and a dual 6 ohm will render a 3 or 12 ohm load.... all depends on how its wired.

Edit:

basically, what i'm telling you to do is take the sub out of the box, and look at the model number on the magnet. the model number will tell you what the ohm load for each coil is, and then you can go from there.

ie: 10w3v2-2 would be a JL 10 w3 version 2 dual 2ohm load. 10w3-4 would be a JL 10 w 3 subwoofer, original version, dual 4 ohm load.

Thanks Jim, I am coming home tomorrow so I'll look at it when I get there. I ended up putting my current speaker to one chan as I went to pump the tires up and after 30 minutes the amp was warm and started to smell like new electronics, didn't want to risk it so I put it back to the way it was.

P.S. My goal is not so people can hear me blocks away, my goal is to have clean crisp sound meaning the bass doesn't overpower the vocals. I have a Kenwood HU with Infinity speakers.

Hi all!

I'm sick too. It's miserable. I wish it was warmer so I could motivate myself to drop my car a bit more...or even go hook up my battery tender.

Instead I'm about to watch The Mechanic. I'm sure it's gonna suck. I'll probably end up whacking off to porn on my smart phone.

russiankid 12-13-2011 08:48 PM

The Mechanic wasn't a bad movie.

and after that 30 seconds...

HickRocket1258 12-13-2011 09:39 PM

Damn. So I was going to take the mustang to the dyno until I found out that the drain was leaking from the threads. **** just never stops and I keep getting one thing after another to keep me from getting to the dyno.

you're probably better off disconnecting it until you know what the ohm load is for sure, so you dont smoke your amp.

I'll check it out tomorrow and go from there. I still need to do more reading, this is the first sound system I've setup myself so still learning.

Xmen First Class surprised the hell outa me.

And on to my morning... went to Vinart this morning to get an estimate to get my car fixed( long story short, my car fell off the Jack a couple weeks ago, damaged the rear quarter panel, body and side skirt). Well apparently progressive does things differently and I need to meet with their progressive guy. So now I'm an hour late for work and have to skip lunch to make it up. Which was expected , but now it was all for nothing... fml

First Class was actually a good movie... much better then I expected.

You don't use jack stands?

Oh, this is kinda funny. http://shine.yahoo.com/healthy-livin...172200625.html

This is just sad. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/409070.../#.TuFYimAc068

accordguy04 12-14-2011 10:20 AM

Yeah it really was! When I first saw the trailers last year i thought it looks terrible and had no desire to see it at all... but then everyone started telling me how good it was. I love that! Going into a movie with little to No expectations and coming out liking it. :) Really intense movie too.

It was while I was jacking it up... I guess I didn't have it centered right or something. I fail, hardcore... but hey at least I wasn't under it.

jpalamar 12-14-2011 10:22 AM

Ah... well that just sucks.

accordguy04 12-14-2011 10:28 AM

Tell me about it. That's the worst when you know you hurt your baby because of your own stupidity. Worst part was, the whole reason I was jacking it up was to remove the front Spacers. I was having a really bad vibration in the front end and thought they might be the culprit. Well they weren't, it ended up being a bad Ds axle... all it was all for nothing. Lol

jpalamar 12-14-2011 10:32 AM

We have all done dumb things. I had a stop put tires on my GTO and I didn't check the lugs before I left. A few days later 2 lugs broke off and the wheel cocked sideways and pushed my caliper into my rotor. I craped my pants when my one tire locked up while driving...

Needless to say, the shop wouldn't fix the parts because I'm supposed to check my lugnuts after 100 miles... but they never wrote what miles were on my car when they serviced it so they couldn't even back their own story up. Should of lawyered up but it wasn't worth the headache for less then $1000.

accordguy04 12-14-2011 10:40 AM

When I was at SHIP a local garage put new tires on this guys car. As soon as he pulled out of the parking lot ALL FOUR wheels fell off, right in the middle of the intersection ... apparently they forgot to tighten the nuts... OK accidents happen, I could see one... but all four????

Funniest part is, the guy was absolutely jacked, huge dude. He started walking back to the shop while the cop was talking statements, the cop stopped him and said for the ppl at the shops safety, he couldn't let him go back to the shop without a police escort. Lol

jpalamar 12-14-2011 03:01 PM

I'm really disappointed. I just calculated over 2 months of ezpass statements and my average speed never exceeded 72mph. No wonder nobody has ever bothered me about speeding. I guess the slow people really slow me down.

An interesting thing I found is that my very aggravating trip home is the same 10 minutes to go 12 miles that it is to get to work in the morning, often times it's shorter even but it feels much longer for some reason. I'm betting that the times at the ezpass gates aren't properly synchronized which would explain all of my observations.

jpalamar 12-14-2011 06:11 PM

I wouldn't doubt it. PENDOT rarely does anything right.
