s2000's are great dd's rarely break fun as hell to drive and are great for auto x you can find nice ones in the 10k range. Also remember if it looks nice and has been taken care of they go well over 100k miles there are big 500 hp s2000's with over 100k and stock blocks running strong.

Thanks for the concern guys, but Mazda was actually replacing and waranteering motors for 8 years/100K miles or something similar. I'm looking for one that has had all TSBs completed. The need to warm up the car is simply because it gets flooded when it's turned off while still cold. Sparkplug replacement seems to help. It seems like once these precautions are done, the car runs better.

IDK, the RX8 is really nice. I love the interior and it has all the amenities an MR2T/300ZX won't have. I just need to find the right one.

The TT 300z would certainly be a comfortable, sporty DD but it probably won't do the best in poor weather. I had one for a few months and i loved it. Basic intake, exhaust, more boost, more fuel and it would stomp about 90% of what you run across on the road daily. It road very comfortably for being such a big car and riding around with the tops out on a nice day is heaven. But i don't think i'd want to drive one in the snow. Hitting the gas a bit to much in 3rd when raining would cause the back end to break free. Have you considered a late 90's early 00's legacy gt perhaps?

I have driven my Supra numerous times through rain, cold etc. I have never lost control or done anything to it. As long as you're not stupid in bad weather, a RWD car will do just fine. I'm not a big fan of older LGTs unfortunately.

i personally would not go the RX8 route with that many options. also, if you look around, you can definitely get an E36 M for 10k that is clean with some nice mods. They have come down in the past year or two, much like the rest of the car market. S2000 may be a little harder, but it can be done as well.

SC400 with a W58 5speed trans.

I need guys. It's between a 2001 Audi s4 with 85,000 miles or a 2007 ford fusion with 35,000 miles and a warranty. Both are under $10,000. The way I see it the S4 is what I really want but if something breaks I'm sol and the ford is nice, but it's no audi. Your thoughts?

DownforceTom 01-26-2010 04:33 PM

Get the audi, hands down. Don't settle on a car you don't really want.

Damn it, there's this gorgeous white E36 M 2 miles from me! I wish I had the SRT sold so I can at least check it out :banned:

The reason for this thread is because he's selling his Srt-4, which would also take out the RSX, and possibly the A4. Leaving the 525i which doesn't seem to be a popular choice for all around track fun car. 325i's are popular in the track scene and are nice for a daily driver though

If you are willing to put up with the 1/2 ton full size pickup truck mileage of an RX-8, get an older, used 1/2 ton pick up truck for a daily driver/tow vehicle and get a used race car with a trailer you can take to the track.

Sometimes you can find cmplete package deals on http://www.race-cars.com/ or http://www.racecarsforsale.com/ that will fit your budget. This time of year people are trying to get rid of their old cars to get ready for a new class next season.

There are quite a few affordable race cars already set up and ready to go for sale

I've looked at those sites, but they are too hardcore for me. I need something I can drive everyday!

As for the mileage of the RX-8. I can live with it. I barely get 23mpg in my SRT and I barely get into boost on my 50% highway commute!

i_ride_fieroGT 01-27-2010 01:47 AM

Id say 88 fiero GT or formula. Fun reliable Good on gas if you get a 5 speed. cheap on insurance easy to mod. And blast to drive.

I have a few frinds with RX-8's and some of them are overjoyed if they can get 21 MPG highway at 65 MPH on a relatively level highway.

Is there something wrong with the tuning of your SRT-4? A friend of mine has a 400+ WHP SRT-4 he daily drives. He gets 33+ MPG highway and in mixed city/highway driving he gets about 22 MPG. It sounds like yours is running really rich.

It's bone stock LOL. On the highway, I get about 28 or so.
