But you are never going to get a straight yes or no answer. Everyone has their own ideas. I know a bunch of people that use it and others that don't. I have never used it because I never had an issue with an mls gasket. Just like some people would tell me don't use autozone head gaskets on the b series motors, when asked why they would say they are junk b/c they are from autozone. I used them b/c it was cheap and they lasted longer then my motor and heads would. SO...... |
yeap...i guess im gonna run it..

I dotn use condoms but I use copper spray

hahahahahahhahaha

I used them only if the customer insisted on being a cheap ass. I would much rather use a HKS, Tomei, APEXI mls gasket. |
The two people that clearly stated that cometic HG's are trash (Turbotagteam & evomike) probably have had more wrench time then anybody in this thread so I'd listen to them.
Myself, lurking on dsmtuners, have found cometic to get bad reviews. |
but like someone else said in this thread. a lot of this is info is not from personal experience. so if he uses it and something goes wrong with the head gasket he knows it was either his mistake or the head gasket itself... im not taking sides im just being truthful. forums suck for questions sometimes because you get so many opposite answers/opinions.

I don't like cometic, but it will be fine with the spray..... It's a fresh machined head, straight deck engine pussing a whopping 150-160 HP at the crank with a low compression ratio.
This gasket will be mush better then the 30 dollar no name made is Israel POS gasket he got from ebay and wanted to use. |
no it came with my other gaskets. lol
|
I was always under the impression that the both cylinder head and block have to be surfaced to used a MLS gasket or else it can leak.. Not just machined, but surfaced to a VERY smooth finish..
|
Why not just use an stock headgasket on a bone stock motor?

Ok so you are going to tell me to shut the **** up because its not a bone stock motor, yet you cannot say what is done to it. From what I read in your journal, you got cams and exhaust.

What you should really be questioning is if you should be using the Cometic gasket. In the DSM world, it's hit or miss with these things. If you haven't decked both the head and block, I'd be extremely weary of using it. I had the OEM MLS gasket which is supposed to seal much better than the cometic and I backed out and bought a composite cause I didn't deck anything. I also hear that the surfaces need to have a smoothness of like 6 microns or something like that. If something needs to be measured for smoothness, that just gives you an idea of how perfect everything needs to be. What benefit is there for using the cometic? I'm boosting 25+psi and approaching 400hp and am doing perfectly fine on the OEM composite gasket.
btw, i use copper spray |
