So I still get to order some car parts. Titanium ARC UICP and Blitz Ti-C dual exhaust.

Next time dont pay for the extra shipping. They usually ship things out in a day or two at the most. Living in Jersey is sweet, my 70-200 was ordered on a Wed, and on Thurs the lens was at my door.

Edit** Damnit Grimm beat me to it, thats what I get for not reading the rest of the thread.

Nice pick ups, what kind of tripod did you end up getting?

Ah thanks for the advice. I called before ordering and asked someone if I'd get my order by Friday with the standard shipping and he said no, so the 2 day shipping cost me $14. No biggie. I got my friend to model for me on Sat morning for my Photography assignment, so I needed all this stuff by then.

I got this one http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...12_Tripod.html

I don't know much about tripods, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on one. This one seems like it will get the job done for whatever I do.

Supersprynt 09-25-2009 02:11 PM

I'm thinking about a 28 f/1.8... anybody have any experience with it?

den9 09-25-2009 03:22 PM

should be nice on a crop sensor

Supersprynt 09-25-2009 03:36 PM

I'm full frame - I need something wider for parties & things that a 50 will just be too long. Problem is some are saying it's pretty soft. I don't have the cash for a 24 1.4L :(

Chris_PA 09-25-2009 03:54 PM

24 is widde on FF

35/2 is real nice lens for the money
There's also the Sigma 30/1.4 which is supposedly real good too

jspek 09-25-2009 04:04 PM

ive been wanting to try out the 30 1.4 for a while. but i lust after the nikon 28 1.4, i just dont feel like selling my soul and searching the globe for one.

It's DC - for cropped bodies, or I would have went with that for the 1.4 alone. The 35 isn't USM, which isn't a deal breaker, but I'd really like something sub f/2

Do you need AF? If not how about the Nikon 35/1.4 with an adapter?
I've heard decent things about the 28/1.8 but have never used it.

i meant to say i was buying a canon

djb5118 10-01-2009 08:39 PM

Just got my sigma 12-24 today! check the random photo thread for examples!

TROLL 10-01-2009 09:12 PM

The widest thing I currently have for my D700 is my 24-70... and its a totally badass lens that gets most of what I need done.
Still, I want a wider option, just for those rare occasions. Don't want anything thats obscenely expensive or heavy, and I don't need 2.8, but I do want image quality.
Narrowed it down to the Nikon 18-35 f3.5-4.5 and the Sigma 15-30 f3.5-4.5. Nikon is slightly more expensive, smaller, lighter, and can take front filters. The Sigma obviously goes to 15mm which could be a lot of fun, although unnecessary. Reviews say both have overall good image quality, but both are a bit soft at the corners.
Hrrmmmm.

Personal favorite of mine from Canon is the 50 1.8

For the money, you just can't beat it.

If I could afford it, I would go for L-glass but when I had my old setup, I found myself using the 50mm more than my 70-200L, not just because of focal length but because I paid 100 for the 50 brand new and could get crazy DOF with it.

i could agree if it was on a FF sensor, and just for light travel.
