SAFC install is all finished up now. I'm very happy with how the mounting came out. It looks clean and I can see it while driving if I glance down quickly. Obviously I'll need to park it for tuning or have a friend tweak it while driving. The first shot makes my interior look a lot worse than it actually is... but oh well. I also stuck on some more sound deadening and still have more to go.

Wow! I have definately never seen one of these roaming the roads (modified i mean) Props for doing what you have done, the car is pretty nice looking. SAFC units are def fun to play around with once you get the hang of how to tweak the car around.... do you have some sort of A/F ratio guage? Even a narrowband cheap-o can help

I have an AEM wideband, I just need a guage pod and to weld the bung into the header since I swapped that out from my last build. I have tuned before with the Apexi, it's a super simple unit.

Wideband is even better! Def a worthwile investment  You will have allot of fun with that!

Your mounting spot for the SAFC makes me wish I had a 1st gen interior now lol

I have no idea where to mount mine when I find one. I know a lot of people do the pocket above the radio, but my ScanGauge is there. Hmmm.

i_ride_fieroGT 12-10-2010 03:16 AM

I gota give it to it. i dont like saturn's but for some reason id rock that wagon.

PunkboySL2 12-10-2010 08:48 PM

Thanks man.

Alex, that's where I had mine on my sedan, above the radio stuffed into above the vent. It was easier to see, but this mounting is much cleaner IMO.

Small update, snow tires are on so I'm ready to plow haha. Al replaced my tstat since my car had been running real cold lately and I remembered I clipped the one that was in there last summer. Heat works better now and I'm hoping for better mpgs.

Still need to tweak and finish a few things and I may cut the fenders/liners a bit. I am trying to make it to H2O, but not sure I'm going to make it now.

looks good man!

Had it out on the first with the good wheels after a wash. It's back to winter wheels now and we're going to drop in another motor tomorrow as well as boost it since I picked up a full kit from a buddy. The kit is a bit rough, but I'll be swapping out some stuff and probably fabbing a new downpipe later on since the current one is 2.25" crushed bent piping.

Almost got the car together last night, we stayed up til 1 trying to get it finished. A few things need to be buttoned up, I need to make the oil drain and hook up the gauges and vacuum block and it should be all ready to go with a quick tune. Will update this post with pics and maybe a quick video.

Current mod list:

Stock engine
adamkob ported Geo Storm GSI TB
Zombie TB bracket
T3 super 60
Tial 38mm EWG
Precision 350hp intercooler
Tial 50mm BOV
Hacked up steel/aluminum intercooler piping
OBX stainless catback
Poly inserted engine mounts
38lb Volvo injectors
Stock Clutch w/ ACT 6 puck disc

And one picture (going to get more tonight):

Still need to hook up a rad fan and install the Megasquirt tonight. The resistance on the injectors is about twice of stock, so even though they're bigger I'm not getting enough fuel with the stock pcm and using the SAFC. With the MS I'll have full control and should have it running much better.

Got Insulin? 01-13-2012 01:03 PM

I dig it!

PunkboySL2 01-15-2012 03:17 AM

Thanks dude!

Well the MS1 I had doesn't seem to power on so I cracked the case and one of the resistors became un-soldered. Not sure if there was other issues so I threw in the MSII for now (luckily harnesses are the same) and got it running damn good. Honestly it's almost better than the coupe ever was with only about an hour of total time tuning, score. It idles pretty good, AFRs are consistent, doesn't cut out or break up, so now I just need to play with accel enrinchments and it should be money.

Obviously this isn't the completed setup, it's all together now though.

http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/...oySL2/0431.jpg

Another successful boost build :)

http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/...oySL2/0511.jpg

I ordered some fresh 2.5" mandrel stainless bends to make a new downpipe, the current one is crush bent and ****ty. It has a real nasty pie cut 90* bend almost right out of the turbo so we're fixing that. I also have a cheapy intercooler piping kit coming to replace the **** steel piping on the car now and to get rid of any of the rubber couplers and hose clamps I'm currently using.

All in all I'd say there's less than $2500 in the car now lol. There's still a few things that need to be touched up and whatnot, but that will all be taken care of soon enough.
