Rap died 10 years ago...let it rest in peace

I'm going to be completely honest here. He has already been beaten to a pulp for the one "good" song he has, he isn't good and if I hear that song one more time (I was also at State Pattie's Day) I'm going to ear **** the person that plays it.

mxrage 03-02-2009 07:48 PM

asher roth will never succeed. hes a joke. and that i love college song he put out over a yr ago and finally is gettin some radio play just cause some dj on wired is on his dick. mainstream rap and ringtone rap sucks ass. u people need to listen to some better music

Oakes 03-02-2009 07:53 PM

MXRage is right, he's basically a one hit wonder from a song from 2007, if he hasn't produced anything else good enough since then he is already dead.

maximaserg 03-02-2009 07:55 PM

yea ive met people who went to your high school and heard that asher used to kill it in battles.

I just saw jim jones new video now that is complete ****.

And when it comes to I love college people either love it or hate it there is no in the middle. Its a simple concept for a song which describes what happens at almost every school on the weekends. People should not be mad cause someone actually made a song about it and its sure does sell.

He is a lyrical person he just made i love college to blow up.

Check this on youtube:

Asher Roth- the reading

better music is what? someone who you think is better? oooo your opinion on who you feel is music? its all opinions what you say is better music some will perceive as crap.

01civicsi 03-02-2009 08:35 PM

for example... tech n9ne should get more radio play then asher roth, but doesnt. because people just sleep on him, but some white dude raps about partying at school and he is famous.. ohhh woohhh good song concept its been beaten to death more then a horse.

jjm4life 03-02-2009 08:39 PM

the song sucks but you gotta give it to him.. he wrote a really basic song about stuff we all did/do and it hit home with a huge demographic. as lame as it is, people enjoy the song cause its easy to remember the lyrics and love its topics. its gonna be a party song ten years from now because its dumbass lyrics are timeless. every college student drinks parties and talks about the girls he spooged in. its science.
tech n9ne may be a better wrapper, but he didnt write a song that millions can relate to

the song is finally gettin radio play because he recently finished it up. he had to redo the beat from the mixtape version cause weezer wouldnt let him sell there beat. he only has one song out because its his first album hasnt droped yet. he has material out just not cut and finished radio stuff.

the radio version of i love college as been out for less then 6 months. hell his mixtape didnt even come out till mid 08 and he has plenty of great material. listen to his "a milli remix" and his part in "change gone come"

Oakes 03-02-2009 08:56 PM

He's not good to me, end of story. I don't see him lasting long since he needs to use beats from other songs/mix with other artists.

Yo, let me get that new Tech N9ne CD.

I bet you would listen to Tech N9ne if he played with Phish.

clay 03-02-2009 08:59 PM

and thats fine, u like what u like. and every body uses other people beat on mix tapes. thats the point of a mixtape. lil wayne, kanye, ross, nas, andre and so on and so on they all do it

GHost240SX 03-02-2009 09:06 PM

wow alot of people on here don't understand that asher isn't a rapper. Eminem is a rapper, he was hip-hop and then became mainstream. Asher Roth is new school hip-hop whether he stays mainstream or not. Lyrically the kid is sick, he's not meant for the mass media. But that doesn't mean mass media can't take something it likes and turn it mainstream. As for all those who say he sucks, please fill me in on the other TRUE hip hop isn't mainstream and isn't for everybody. Comparing Em to asher is like comparing oranges to apples. Thats like comparing lil wayne to Lupe

hate to break it to you, but hes getting more than just play on philly radio. he has been getting play all over MTV

Oakes 03-02-2009 09:24 PM

I will admit that it's good for him that he's gotten out there this big, but I just don't think he is good and that his style of music is just not original nor good. He's basically just talking with a beat in the background, he's not a rapper I gathered that much but I don't see him lasting long off of one song.

So you are telling me Asher Roth isn't a rapper, but he is a hip-hopper? So when I bootleg his music and classify it under a genre, it should be listed under "hip-hop"?

Hip-hop is pretty much rap.

If he wasn't meant for the masses, why is he trying to sell himself to record labels? Why is he being publicized? Asher Roth is basically another Eminem. Sure he doesn't look the same, or "rap" about the same topics, but at the end of the day, they are both "rappers" that are doing the same schtick.

We are comparing green apples to red apples.

^^ i knew youd bring food into this somehow, just didnt think it would be fruit. o and Derek, tech n9ne played my bar mitzvah

hes a rapper. white as white can be. and a jew too. that just makes it even funnier for me. him and andy samberg, its clearly for fun. i bet he doesnt take himself nearly as seriously as eminem and would probobly laugh if he saw this thread.
