If only the people that have DSM's knew how to treat a car then they wouldn't break down.

please dont hate DSM's. i love this car with all my heart. im facing a minor problem which may seem like a bigger issue but its not that bad. most of the things im dealing with are stupid things, trying to figure out how to unplug the ecu and such. i love my dsm, will continue to love them, and will own another fairly soon. once a DSM'r always a DSM'r

BlackBulletTSi 09-20-2007 01:02 PM

exactly, I love my car and I went from a 90 to a 97, granted I've had some issues. I still love it and once its complete i'll be ok. I'd love to pick up an AWD maybe another 1G. Just no money for that just yet :) Anyway back on topic hope ya get that figured out soon

ok so i left the battery disconnected over night just because i was working on some things yesterday. hooked it back up, started her up and shes running fine, awesome. CEL that was on before magically disappeared so im super happy at this point. im out driving around for two hours and CEL still hasnt come on so i think im in the clear. WRONG. pull into a gas station to put some air in my tires and the CEL comes back on. WTF MATE!! so my elation turned to frustration in about two hours. im thinking that maybe because the bov isnt recirculated it might cause it to throw a CEL but i dunno. i bought the car with the bov vented so dont hate on me, i need to get a recirc adapter to get it right. so idle is fine but still have CEL, help.

Occasionally if I am bored I will un-recirculate my BOV and it doesn't throw a CEL. So that shouldn't be it. Do you have a scanner? Scan it and see what it is. I am having the biggest headache with this ISC IAC piece of garbage. I replaced it but its still wetated. At least I turned my old one back into Autozone paaahahaha.

97TurboDSM 09-20-2007 07:05 PM

bahahaha. im waiting for my scanner to come in the mail. it might be throwing a cel because its a catless exhaust but i dont know why it would take two hours for that to re-appear after startup?

Yea I don't think it's that either. My car is catless as well and I cleared it once, five months after the exhaust was put on. Get that code and see what we have.

97TurboDSM 09-20-2007 07:36 PM

yea im gonna have to. im just curious why it was off for so long then suddenly back on again?

I just replaced my IAC and my check engine light went on then off and now its back on and it's surging now. I donno wtf this sh*t is. I guess I blew another one with only like 100 miles on it? Stupid.

97TurboDSM 09-21-2007 03:32 AM

yea this **** is retarded. im prolly jus gonna replace the iac and pcv and see what happens if i dont get my scanner before then

Love the color. I owned a 95 GSX in Durango Copper Pearl with grey leather at one time. Loved the car and kinda regret letting it go.

The ISC is a common problem and can be blocked off and idle set manually with good results. You may run into problems with idle speed with the AC on though.
Get that code pulled and go from there. It is rare that a bad ISC will throw a CEL. It is likely something else.

Mines done it like 4 times. And theres like 24234 threads on it.

PaleDSM 09-23-2007 02:49 PM

Just telling you what I have experienced in 15 years of DSM ownership.

What is the code number or description that you have thrown for a bad ISC?
