Not really up to me or anyone else which car youd rather drive, but I do have one bit of advice about the dsm you might wanna take up on.

You would make more money parting out the car then spending money fixing it up and selling it whole. DSM owners are generally cheap bastages, and when shopping for a potential car, they get even cheaper.

But if you dont want to take the time parting it out, just sell the car as a whole as it is right now. Why deal with headaches or spend more money on the car if you plan on selling it? Your profit/hassle involved wouldnt be worth the couple of extra greenbacks.

P.S. It is stupid easy getting a GST into 12's.

Never liked the S2000 myself, too small for me.

um, maybe its me but u DO seem a bit hung over havin a drag car and if thats what u want, an s2k is not it. s2ks are for handling and being decently quick. no i/h/e is gonna get u any real gains in the s2k. they only way to get real diff in the s2k is F.I. and since u already said u wouldnt make an NA car a turbo, ur done.....its gonna be real hard for a dsm drag girl to ditch her setup and go to a rwd backroad carver.....if it was gonna be ur only car, i dunno what ur winters are down south there but winter + s2k isnt great, now, bastid may disagree bc hes had one in the snow many times, but, itll be a lot diff that ur dsm....s2ks arent crazy fast without F.I. so dont buy it and try to make it fast with light bolt ons, if u just wanna look good ina convertible, by all means, have a blast.....if u want to run 10s, go tune ur dsm

has anyone mentioned isnurance yet? i dunno about delaware but the s2k WAS a top choice for me before buyin the rx8...i got many quotes from companies between these two cars before i got the 8....heres some digits for ya

I think what i'm gonna do with the talon is keep some of the small bolt ons and mods on (i/e, bov, eclipse front end, short shifter, motor mounts, mbc, and the 14b) and the ported manifold, ic piping, hids, and downpipe ill just part out... and I guess I'll have to keep the gauges in there too.

As for the GST, its pretty much ripped apart now with a blown headgasket or bad waterpump. So I have to fix the motor, put the interior back together and replace parts that are missing or broken, and get one side of it repainted bc of the cancer paint that is currently on the rear drivers side and hatch. I bought the car dirt cheap, and even after the money I will put into fixing it, i'll still make roughly 2-3 grand off of it. And I'd rather do that than sell it now as is and make nothing off of it.

Yeah i'm worried abotu insurance, that was one of the things I was hoping someone would know. Right now my mom has me under her insurance still, she has no points on her license which makes it cheap, and then I just turned 21, and i'mmmm a girl, so it'd be significantly less than that, plus I might end up getting liability, idk it depends on the difference in cost. idk i need to call up there, now i'm kinda worried lol. But if worst comes to worst i'd just pay her the difference of what the talon costs and what the s2k costs.

And yeah, i have been pretty stuck on the drag thing, but with the Talon, I feel like I need to make it fast, bc thats what people do to DSMs and it was relatively cheap and easy to do, its like a competition. When I had my Accord it wasnt like that, and I think i'll feel the same way in an s2k.

Its hard to explain.. its like, the Talon is ugly, so i want to make up for it by making it fast. An s2k is sexy, so I wouldn't feel the need to do as much, if that makes any sense. I just can't have a slow car, I'd liek to be faster than the majority of cars out on the road, and low 14's is alright with me, esp bc it excels in other areas.

lolol... i was thinking about the whole winter thing earlier this morning. My talon is the worst car I have ever owned when it comes to snow, even with decent tires it sucks. And I planned on getting actual winter tires this summer, so I would do the same with the s2k. And my view is, i'm going from sucky snow car... to sucky snow car. If i was going from awd to rwd then there would be a problem lol, I really should go test drive an s2k this weekend

cranshinibon 08-09-2007 11:29 AM

i say go for it...i love your talon but maybe you do need a change of pace....s2ks are nice looking cars and they're pretty quick. plus i think your ex will help you figure that stuff out as well...he's pretty damn good with stuff and he helped me out with a lot of beginner questions. hell if you need any help modding it thats what this forum is for anyway. regardless best of luck

:mrgreen::mrgreen:if you sell the dsm's why not just upgrade and buy a new evo? alot of people around me have done that, went from turbo dsm and upgraded to evos..they still have not gotten the smiles off there faces

su_maverick 08-09-2007 11:42 AM

Just get what you want and will have fun in.

But, be prepared for all of the Honda and VTec jokes.

Meh, i've had 3 honda's so I'm used to it. I have to say though, the dsm jokes were worse than the honda jokes lol

You arent a true DSM owner until you have recieved a leash for your birthday that says "crank" on it.

MissDSM 08-09-2007 03:41 PM

lololol... alright i'm not a true DSMer then :(

But I just thought of what my new name will be... MissS2K... clever huh?! lolol jk

su_maverick 08-09-2007 04:15 PM

Don’t worry, I used to get a Pez dispenser where my friend had written “Apex Seals” on the side with a Sharpie.

With a 2gb eclipse front end, a drop, and some rims, I get a woody every time I see one. To me, its the best of both worlds. But thats personal preference and I'm sure theres a slew of people who love eclipse rear's compared to talons.

If I wasent deployed I would probably take the talon off your hands, seeing as how you want to sell it. I need a new project to work on. The Galant is done, and honestly wouldnt mind trying a 2550cc/10:1cr setup in a 2g. I keep trying to get away from anything DSM related, but for the past 7 years, its been pretty hard to find anything else that responds to mods so easily and is so affordable.

NOPSTNS 08-09-2007 07:01 PM

do remember my quotes for insurance were for full coverage and on my own insurance. i need full cov bc id have a bank loan on the car. if u buy it in cash and have the insurance in m0ommys name then itll be a tad lower. but its still a convertible sports car!

i tyhought u already drove one and fell in love, id dint kno u hadnt driven one yet......u need to drive em first b4 u decide . i was sold on a 350z until i actually drove one....some cars are better on paper than they are behind the wheel.....not sayin the s2k is one of them but, if ur into drag racing prepare to be disappointed.

if u want somethin to carve the cbackroads and on ramps, then maybe u should consider it then....

and MisS2k makes more sense....!

MissDSM 08-10-2007 09:53 AM

lol we'll see. I'm like emo now. When I bought the gst, it had a really ****ty paint job on the drivers side door, quarter panel, sideskirt, hatch, wing, and rear bumper. Im sure it looked great when the previous owner got the cheap maaco special paint job, but now it looks liek cancer paint on the hatch, wing, and qp.

Anyway, I put a tarp over the gst whenever it rains bc it has a leak somewhere, and i pull the tarp off this morning to move it for my stepdad, and I SWEAR TO GOD it was liek the maaco paint was melting off, in streaks, down the side of my car. It honestly looks like wax dripping down the side of my car. On a part of the quarterpanel, it was shedding its clearcoat like a ****ing snake... i didnt even know what to say. My stepdad, who rarely even cusses, just stares at it with me and goes "wwwwhat the fff**** is that." At this point im worried its going to be too much to completely fix it to sell. And idk if I should put it to stock and sell the mods that are on it then sell the car as is.... If i do, no s2000, so i really need to figure something out.

slowevo9 08-10-2007 10:25 AM

i will sell you my evo. all the parts from cosworth will be coming in a couple weeks. lol i will install them and get reflashed. then it can be all yours. lol then that could be my down payment for a c6z06:mrgreen:

CarbonIS 08-10-2007 10:27 AM

my advice is.......do it. I would love to have an S2000 and u would look
super hot in one. DO IT!!
