If you aren't driving the car hard, knockoffs are fine. I would never use them because how I drive, I wouldn't trust them with all of the force. Last thing I want when steering hard into a corner and having the tire grip is having the spokes on the wheel break because of lateral force.

I also told you that if I wasn't driving the car hard like if I had a civic or something that I wanted to mod just for looks, I would have no problem using Rota or Sportmaxx. I just never understood how some people can build their high power cars and race them with cheapo wheels, just doesn't really seem safe to me.

dammit I wanted to post the fish after the guy with the fishing rod but you guys had to clutter it all up with your bickering about fake wheels.

I dunno Sean something does smell alittle fishy around here...

motorvated 12-08-2008 02:50 AM

How can you make claims like this "I don't speed excessively even when I am in a hurry, I never drink and drive, and when I do push my car I never do it to the limit or with others around." and then say this "If you aren't driving the car hard, knockoffs are fine. I would never use them because how I drive, I wouldn't trust them with all of the force."

You dont track your car, or drive very hard on the streets...

I don't push my car to the limit meaning I don't try to scorch through every corner so fast that I am at the limit of adhesion. I do drive my car hard at times when I feel its safe, and I wouldn't put my life or my car on the line because I decided it was OK to cheap out on something. Besides, driving hard and driving fast I don't think are related at all times.

On a given off-ramp, lets say I do 70mph and everything is fine. I may be able to do 90 on that same ramp if I really want to, but what can happen with a poorly made wheel? Tire grips, spokes have too much stress, broken wheel. Same concept as people who don't get forged wheel studs and run ultra sticky tires, they can break from the lateral force.

I am not putting knockoff wheels on this car and that is final. My opinion stands not because I am hardheaded but because I try to take precaution in what I do and do it as safely as possible. I would rather keep my heavy 17s that I know are a well engineered wheel rather than get some cheap lighter and maybe nicer looking wheels that could lead to huge problems.

Cleanneon doesn't want more power. I think he's terrified of it. Doesn't sound like he pushes the car to me. How can you not want more power :bigeek: I drive like granny on the street and I want more power.

Because with great power comes great responsibility. I'm fine with the way the car is now, I'm not building a drag racer after all.

Your point is valid....IF you find someone who has had a wheel just simply break. You show pictures of broken wheels and say they are ****. But you dont realize that these broken wheels are from people hitting curbs, or gators. OR like the guy runing 500 HP in a civic that warped the wheels. Ide like for you as a project, to show any one of us an instance where someones wheels just up and broke in a turn without some kind of previous failure or neglect.

CleanNeon98 12-08-2008 03:05 AM

Ehh, at least he isn't wearing pink lol

motorvated 12-08-2008 03:05 AM

I'm not doing homework for you, if you disagree with me, fine.

ASA not on this car. At least ASA mimic a nice wheel, I'm tired of everyone trying to be JDM. I'm done arguing with you, every time I tell you anything you have to try and come back like you are better than me.

Cya

motorvated 12-08-2008 03:20 AM

im not better then you...you just contradict your self non stop, and everyone knows it. Then to prove your point, you post a youtube video of an RX7s wheels falling off. Watch the whole video. The wheels arent broken and neither are the studs. The guy used the wrong lug nuts and didnt tighten them. Work Equips would pop off too....it has NOTHING to do with being knockoffs. You can stop arguing..you were wrong anyway.

Once again you missed the point I made, it was about doing things properly as a whole. If you want to run cheap parts on your car do it, I won't, I would rather leave it stock than know I'm not using good equiptment. As far as contradicting myself, noone else here seems to have any problems with me, I've met tons of great people here over the years that I consider my friends. Companies like Work and Rays and BBS engineer their wheels to a high standard to withstand abuse. Rota, and Sportmaxx don't do the same (see the cost difference), and I'm sure there is a difference in quality with the cost, I'm sure they haven't been giving away miracle products for years and losing money at the same time.
