if he's straight edge.. and i assume that is a "drug free" lifestyle then i don't see how drinking copious amounts of a liquid with a high level of caffeine in a fashion that could be consider abuse would fit in with a "drug free" lifestyle.

caffeine is a drug, and drinking it in such a way i would consider his use of it abuse. Surely, there is more wrong in drinking 7-8 cans of dew than having a couple beers at the bar or a couple shots.

I haven't touched alcohol since Aug 08. If you asked me i would say never drink, it has so many downsides. I started with the question, who would you rather be around. So dont misunderstand what i was asking, who would rather be around....people who consumed 84oz's of beer or 84oz's of mountain dew?

i'm definitely thinking 7-8 cans of dew is not an extreme within the "straight edge" lifestyle. it is, most assuredly, an abuse of a drug. which, i'm pretty sure is the point of being straight edge is denying yourself any abuses of drugs.

i can see drinking a couple cans through out the day... but having a party and getting hopped up on a **** load of caffeine is no different than having a case of beer at home and inviting your friends over for beer pong and getting drunk
