And i understand your view, i just disagree with it. and typing some long response to this isnt going to change my views, i just dont think this one guy deserves a fund... perhaps a fund for erradicating crime is in order. just to give you more background on my views... i think we should bring back the death penalty... everyone in prison for life should be offed. they are eating up valuable tax dollars.

Doesnt it actually cost more for death then to keep them in prison for life?

I read it somewhere...

Ahh... http://www.balancedpolitics.org/death_penalty.htm

"Financial costs to taxpayers of capital punishment is several times that of keeping someone in prison for life. Most people don't realize that carrying out one death sentence costs 2-5 times more than keeping that same criminal in prison for the rest of his life. How can this be? It has to do with the endless appeals, additional required procedures, and legal wrangling that drag the process out. It's not unusual for a prisoner to be on death row for 15-20 years. Judges, attorneys, court reporters, clerks, and court facilities all require a substantial investment by the taxpayers. Do we really have the resources to waste?"

I agree, the death penalty needs to be brought back and it needs to be made public. Public hangings, firing squads, etc. I'm tired of the PC treatment criminals, murderers, rapists, etc get. Harsher punishments are in order...

Cops are working for their money. They're underpaid and over worked... severely. You have a staffed of professional community bodyguards who are exhausted. More funding means more cops, means better cops.

Though, I think the first step would be harsher punishments for the crimes... That would drop the crime rate. Also, I believe in New York City they started arresting people for petty crimes... this dropped the crime rate considerably, especially that of murders/rapes, because those people getting caught for petty crimes were the ones doing the other crap.

Our justice system is too lenient anymore

Well, with lethal injection and all that... having to buy chemicals and have a trained doctor on staff, etc.

How much does a length of rope or a bullet cost? Much cheaper to shoot a criminal and turn the body over to the family for burial and such... if they didn't want it you donate the body to science. BFD...

its the "humane" ways of killing someone that cost so damn much

Kerplunk105 11-27-2007 12:05 PM

Cut their hands off for stealing!

CHAOS 11-27-2007 12:06 PM

but not all of those people put their life on the line every time they go to work. Nor are they out there with the intent to keep the peace and keep us protected.

It really is societies fault... we've all placed the dollar, and making the dollar, above that of our own protection. Gone are the days when soldiers were the most important part of a society. Yet society is just as dangerous and violent, if not more so...

eye for an eye...

Personally, I believe harsher penalties for crimes would reduce the crime rate simply out of fear of those punishments. You get in more trouble stealing from your parents as a teen than you get from mugging a person at gun point

Kerplunk105 11-27-2007 12:13 PM

Change of subject, but ever seen that movie Eye for an Eye?

I agree. I think people need to be held responsible for their actions.
