Most of the lgs they were going for 300 or so. The pricing may have changed recently. So excuse me if I'm mistaken. Personally I wouldn't pay more than 300 for one. If you looking for a cheap pocket pistol the LCP and the kel tec are good options. |

What is everyones favorite pistol that they own? im looking to buy a pistol in april and just want to start looking now to find out what i like. i have bigger hands because im 6'3" and want a nice fitting grip. i plan on it being my carry pistol and to do a good amount of target shooting with it. i was think a 9mm so it would be cheaper on ammo, any advice would be helpful

I've only carried my glocks, 19 and 26. I love them both for carry and fun, the 19 gen4 had some issues that Glock has since resolved with a new extractor, ejector, and recoil spring assembly. Mine has all of the updated parts and shoots great, there were initially issues of brass to the face. They are reliable, cheap, and very easy to learn with because of their simplicity. That's why I got one to start with.

I started with a Springfield XDm .40, which is on a similar platform to the Glocks, but now I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II as my primary firearm. Love them both, but the Kimber is smaller and is much easier to conceal. That and it is chambered in .45, so that is a nice benefit. On the downside however, it is a single stack magazine, so there is a large difference in capacity between the two (7+1 vs 16+1). For most self defense situations though, it won't matter. The chances of finding yourself in a gunfight where you are blowing through rounds are so slim that they may as well be non-existant. Now that doesn't mean that you don't want to carry an extra magazine as a backup (primarily in the event of magazine failure) Another reason I carry the Kimber is because the single stack magazine is very thin and I can easily slip it into my pocket and be on my way, knowing that I have an additional seven rounds if needed.

glock 26 is where its at. but since you said you have large hands go with the 19 for sure. Im not sure if their the cheapest, probably not, but go to claytons in warrington their usually rude but they know their guns.

I have the Remington 1911 Enhanced. I also have an AR15 in the Armory that I cannot legally have in DC, but it has an EOTECH 552 on it. Was thinking of buying a scope mount for the 1911 and attaching the EOTECH 552 on it, lol.

my dad has a 19 and its alittle small for me. maybe with an extended magazine it would be a better fit. his jams all the time it might be that gen issue and hes never gotten it fxed. i was looking at the springfield xd or xdm and that seems like something id like to have. need to go find one and see how she fits

I have both a stock basic Gen 3 G17 and a combat (night sights) P226, I like the Sig much, much, much better. It is both easier to shoot (letting my friends shoot for the first time and they always preformed better with the Sig), and I like how it breaks down versus the weird Glock motion for breakdown (purely opinion of course).
P226: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...3/bc82e3ec.jpg Glock: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...3/2eb40f7c.jpg The back of the P226 grip fits my hand way better. |
are the night sights worth getting stock or should just get custom ones later down the road or paint the dots on the stock sights?

Glock 30 will be replacing it soon. |
The Glock 19 Gen 3 were perfect from what I heard. Gen 4 had some problems they worked out, I had to ship mine back but the new ones are coming with the upgraded parts already. When buying, check 3 things.
Recoil Spring should be stamped 0 4 3 Extractor should sit flush in the slide, if it has a little dimple, it's the old style Ejector (new) should say "23047" (something like that), the old bad one is a "336" They should also all have the "." trigger connector ^^GLOCK will do all of the above work on your G19 Gen4 for free, you just have to talk your way into them paying shipping both ways, it costs about 80-100 to ship it on your own. With those 4 things in check, you'll have a great 19. Also, replace the trigger bar for smoother pull. GLOCK won't replace the trigger bar because there is nothing wrong with it, but a non-dimpled one makes the trigger smoother, more of a preference really. When all is said and done, if you don't NEED the different grip texture, 3rd mag or larger mag release, just get a Gen 3. |

Some tweaking, polishing and a few 100 rounds through it and its flawless.Never had a problem with it.Granted it is a glock and it should fire out of the box no problem, but with the issues with the GEN 4 i can't complain. My 21 is flawless(gen3) and will be getting a little brother soon. As for the rough textured frame,i love it on my 19 but don't need it on my 21.It's nice to have yet it's not a make or break thing.Talon grips make some sweet slide over or you can get creative with some grip tape. A friend of mine has 2 of his grip taped, and on a hot summer day its awesome. One could always attempt to stipple it,then again that's best left for someone who knows what they are doing |
