Real life example that I just reminded myself just now to email the dealer. Brandywine Porsche off of Route 3 has a 997 GT2 in black in their used department with only 3,700 miles on it...when I was there 6 months ago the car was listed for $207k. I was just in 3 weeks ago, it's down to $183k. I looked at the paint, and it is in worse conditon than the S600 that I just detailed not too long ago (relating it to another black car) and I could tell that standing 10 feet away from it. That can seriously be hindering the sale of the car, I wouldn't in a million years pay $183k for a car that looks like it was washed with brillo pads after 3k miles. So a $400 detail to make $182,600 is an absolute no brainer. As far as the help, Mikhael helps me when he can, but once I get into a bigger shop and being able to handle more volume I'll definitely be looking for capable assistants. I'll even train people if I have to, but I won't be compromising my quality. Quote:

Yeah I know what you are saying it does help for sure. There are so many BMws and high end cars that I look at that are in such ****ty condition and I'm like wow, how can you let your car become like that.
everything in life is a chance. if it doesnt help that would not be your fault. someone on another message board told me that they installed dynamat from front fire wall, under the entire passanger cabin all the way to the trunk and it was not any quieter. so there are mixed opinions everywhere. you have been around subby's a lot longer to me. i will defer to your experience. i am ok with spending the money and will not think any less of you if things aren't "perfect" after wards.

a friend of mine used a ton of it on his forester and it definitely helped... but its not going to completely kill the sound. hes got a straight cut gearset in his transmission tho so its really loud.
Jon and Angelo, you guys are welcome to use my garage/my assistance for the dynamat, since my place is a halfway point for both of you.
here is the other advice " I did the entire floor (from fire wall to trunk) and the rear deck area (read that was source of sound penetration) with raamat. I did it just to dampen road noise, since everything was stock. In the end, I didn't think it was worth the time, money, and effort. I think my expectations were too high, I thought I could achieve BMW like quietness, not even close. My recommendation, it is alot easier to fix the exhaust (slap the old one back on). Plus, getting this crap out of your car is pretty much impossible, so it is an irreversible decision when you put it in. "
I think it might help but i cant do it by myself. |
I can imagine it would definately help if your car was stock to deaden the sound, but the louder your exahust gets the little Dynomat would do. That's just my opinion.

i thought about doing it to the 05 but never got around to it because the noise wasnt a real concern, i didnt buy the suby to be a quiet car after all.

Im old and sensitive. I like the extra power from the modifications but the sound makes me feel like i am driving a race car. If the inside was slightly quieter i would be really happy.
Sunday sounds good for me. I will pm you my number and we can figure everything else out. If you and Nick want to meet up for lunch lets do it.
Where else would you be Nick? Oh yeah, maybe bangin a guy.....I mean a girl.
