in 05 for a week, and before that was (pretty sure) 98 for 40 days.

I'm not friends with any of you, I wouldn't even give a second glance if you were laying in the street begging for food. ESPECIALLY Chaos.

The problem is when you read that, it does not mention the other issues, specifically the outsourcing of work to out of state firms who are not responsible for the work they perform. This work is often substandard and needs to be redone once back in the region, very inefficient, and dangerous to you if the slipshod work fails to be detected. It is also not very efficient to need to pay twice for the same job.

This bargaining point would probably lower the raise demands and the healthcare input of the employees, but the media seems to have missed that part.

Also, I expect no sympathy while the media continues to show salary demands that high and the too low contribution to my healthcare. (Remember, only teachers, politicians, and CEOs deserve decent wages and benefits, nobody else.)

Seriously though, 3% raises and a 2% increase in healthcare contributions would be a fair compromise, which is a better deal than the local teachers will ever put on the table to a school board.

Hey remember, these busses/trains are what your kids ride on to and from school. Do you want poorly paid , poorly trained people to work on them and drive them and be responsible for their lives for 2 hours each day? Just throwing the same old line out there the teachers use.

Isn't that how must companies work? How is that any different then most companes. Ex. How many times have you ever called a 1-800 number whether its Dell, Sony, ect.. and had someone who could barely speak English on the phone. Outsourcing saves the company money in the end, or people wouldn't do it as they want to make money. If it didn't work, it wiouldn't be widely practiced.

Have you seen that MOST companies aren't giving out raises. Many are even doing salary decreases so a cost of living raise isn't a reasonable expectation durring a recession.

I didn't grow up in Philly and currently don't live there. But form what I've seen, bus drivers anywhere are typically lower call people as it is an unskilled job. Plus we are still alive. Are people in Philadelphia different? NOPE!

No, but I can anticipate a bus running a red light... I can't anticipate the 60 fools that take that bus daily that suddenly are driving during rush hour...

Yeah, I forget how much the Regional Rail carries in a single train, but damn, that's too many people driving..

I think that most of the people who use buses and subways on a daily basis dotn have cars.
