****.

you're better off. I personally won't marry a highly religious person, I wouldn't be able to stand the day to day and weekly stuff associated with it. To each their own, but to a flock I do not belong...

Which was it, just a difference of religions? One of you didn't follow any?

Kerplunk105 11-26-2007 03:13 PM

Its hard for me to usually tell people when I am frustrated so I usually just let it bottle up until I explode....um...yeah...I'm working on that.

I'm Catholic, she's evangelical. If you know your theology, I have more in common with most Jewish folks than an evangelical Christian.

And she goes to a Christian school...

I dont think I could date anyone that didnt have at least some of the same religious beliefs as me. I used to date this guy that didnt believe in god or any religion, (atheism?), and I dunno....it just got to me after a bit...not that I am crazy religious or anything. I dont even go to church regularly.

ozthunder 11-26-2007 03:17 PM

There really has been very few atheists, those completely devoid of any form of belief or faith structure. Nietschze is one of them.

Eh, it really depends on what is bothering me, but yeah...the expected reaction could be one of the reasons why I choose not to bring it up at the time.

ah. Religious schools are such crap, IMO. They spend so much time teaching only their views and not really giving an honest, unbiased, interpretation of the world.

I knew a girl that went to a religious school. She thought the qu'ran was a country and we invaded it, and that was why the middle east is pissed at us... She knew nothing of any other religion outside her own. Just way to sheltered in religious schools...

ozthunder 11-26-2007 03:18 PM

I'm very truthful, all of the time. I don't have the patience to wait to tell it.

What I dont get it that they obviously belief in something...the belief that there is no faith structure?

It depends. For law, I am applying to 6 Catholic law schools and 2 secular schools. Sometimes when your views align it works out, sometimes it doesn't. I have more problems with evangelical schools b/c of the literal take on everything- it can be very disconcerting.

Well their belief in say science or reason is still faith in that belief...a true atheist has no belief, very, very, very nihilistic. Many of the gung ho atheist types nowadays very rarely stick to the actual definition of it.

Scapegoat 11-26-2007 03:22 PM

I consider myself atheist. I don't believe in god; however, I firmly believe jesus did exist, but was merely a man who did good. I believe religion stifles a lot of people, though not everyone.

Personally, I'm fine with anyones religion as long as its not being pushed on me. I believe in being good for myself and my friends and family, not to get into heaven or stay out of hell.

That stuff just isn't for me, but I'm ok with you if it is.

where'smyturbo? 11-26-2007 03:23 PM

i've been more agnostic than anything for the past 6 years.

Kerplunk105 11-26-2007 03:24 PM

This reminds me of the movie called SLC Punk....great movie IMHO.
