That was some pretty specific wording he chose while talking to the investigators after the shooting..

*edit- even though he won't be charged, the attackers didn't have any weapons. Doesn't that mean that he is vulnerable to civil suits?

Yes, unfortunately but I doubt they will win if they do go forward with one, which the way ppl are today the will with the evidence presented and the kids previous records..

Why I stated this needs to be a provision to the new castle laws..

Hell look at the ung/didanto (sp) case, didanto is going after ung and the 5 bars he visited that night

Never got that pm

Did some digging and found the original article to the one posted by Munky.

The guy who defended himself was arrested and (this is just my guess) by the dates on the articles, was possibly held for two days. That scares the hell out of me.

*edit- found anther article where it said after consulting with Adams, the police decided to release the victim, but it doesn't say how long they had him.

And if you are say in a position where you can not afford legal defense, you are pretty much screwed.

Resent the PM.

They only took him into custody to bring him to the station for questioning. They then released him from there and didn't charge him with anything.

Yep, he was not charged with anything, and even you know Brian, you're walking out the day if they're not charges pressed against you...

Resent that email!

Munky, loving the bodyguard, and the girl likes it too lol! She has been practicing loading/unloading every night to get her more comfortable handling guns other than me just telling her to pick one up off the table at the range...slow but steady process, hopefully she will want to carry in the future

I am sure its held for "investigation" and then returned afterwards...I am not sure about this, but that is what I imagine..

none with my tax return, but i just bought my girl a bodyguard .380 and tonight i bought a mossberg 500 with some accessories for a universal HD for the house (more for ease of use for my mom/dad/sister)

now with my work signing bonus im looking to get a Springfield Armory TRP :supz:

Then im probably going to chill on the gun purchases for a little...

Although I just bought my first spyderco, a moonglow manix 2 (pretty rare, only ~800 produced in two runs) I hope this doesnt become part of the addiciton

Typically was held during the questioning but I would assume (and by no means am I an authority on this subject just going off what I have learned while obtaining my degree) they would release it to him once no charges were filed. They might have held it though just to do ballistic testing on it for proof that it was the weapon in question but since he admitted to it I dunno that they would have. Also since it was actually a murder and not just a shooting they might hold it until everything is sorted out completely. But like I said IANAL.

See the previous page(es) about my Draco. I'm also SBRing it and doing some work to it.

Steve that Manix is sick. If you noticed in the thread on pafoa I mentioned that I've been looking at a Native 5 for a while now. I'm tempted to buy it right now. lol. The only other Spyderco that I really like is that Manix 2, but only the full flat ground plain edge like the moonglow. The problem is finding a non-moonglow with the FFG.

SvicksTc 01-31-2012 02:31 AM

I know a background check may be in order before returning it to, although INAL...

And Munky, good luck and wish the best with your situation!

I saw that in the thread (native 5 G10 is sick)...I could never justify spending that type of money on a knife, however, this moonglow manix 2 was just something I had to have, and with such a limited run i might just hold onto it for some time and keep it NIB...

I only really like the FFG too, another reason i jumped on this knife..

Ive seen them go for crazy on ebay, like crazy haha

I really hope i dont dive to far into this knife thing haha

and i lied about not purchasing after i pick up a TRP, I want a draco *cough* dave *cough*

Wow... after reading some of those articles, I don't even want to leave my freakin house now..

But I also learned a lot from them, so thank you Steve.

No problem, remember it is important on how you word things after a self defensive conflict when using your firearm, the 911 call is recorded and your tone of voice, wording, etc could all be used against you..

I highly suggest taking some self defensive pistol classes, you learn A LOT!

If you think going with a partner would make things easier for you or more comforting, ill go with you..Can never get enough of that!:supz:

schaffer 01-31-2012 02:44 AM

Best of luck Munky.

As for blades, they get addictive really quick. Look at the guys on the EDC forums.
Those guys go bat crazy for anything with an edge on it.

Hopefully I get enough back to pick up a Glock 30 for a bug for my 21/every day carry peice. That or I'll start building an AR/pick up a J-frame

There is a VERY strong possibility that I will take you up on that offer, Steve.

The Native 5 is pretty reasonable I think, $125 isn't that bad. You'll pay that much for a 'normal' Benchmade or other bigger brand knife. I think $150 is a good ceiling for a knife purchase unless you must have some sort of special collector's knife.

Side note - anyone interested in meeting up for the Oaks gun show, maybe shooting after?
