It's an interesting technology for someone like Ken who is versed in design as well as programming - but necessitates the use of windows or silverlight........ which is a problem in some circles ;-P

i wouldn't say versed in design... but i know **** when i see it

This is the first swap I am doing and already annoyed with it. I need 3 things, diff, clutch, and shifter. Clutch is not a problem, but finding a diff and shifter is another story.

liberta 10-26-2009 08:09 PM

i have too many projects to work on rite now lol. I already have 2 s10s, and i just bought 2 more. i have my dd(blazer x), and my old dd(bone stock dark green 98 S10 xcab) which is for sale btw. i just bought a victory red 97 Stepside standard cab s10 with a v6/5 speed but a valve knock, and a totaled summit white 02 s10 xtreme xcab fleetside with a v6/auto and 52,xxx miles that got hammered in the drivers side where the 3rd door meets the bed. im gonna swap the 02 v6 into the 97, swap the whole zq8 suspension from the xtreme into the stepside, and possibly swap the whole front clip off the xtreme. its really not THAT hard of a project considering i have nearly everything to do the swap, but i need more time in the day to do it all. itll be sick when its done, but i highly doubt any work is gonna get done at all til at least mid november. there both just sitting at my buddys body shop in mantua right now. and there prob gonna stay there til 2010. although $800 for a low mileage xtreme, and $1200 for the stepside is a steal. if i dont drive it when its all done, i can prob get close to $4k + all the parts that i didnt use from both trucks.

I am, but that is not the problem. Problem is that there was a certain year that these cars with with a strong transmission and this transmission is interchanglable with the even stronger M3 trans. I have the M3 trans, but with this the transmission requires a special shifter only for that transmission and a cross member. Finding one is tough because it was only on late 91's and early 92's.
