I agree with you totally, except I'm one of those people who wouldn't want to take a sick day and it's hard for me to work from home.

x2

but what sucks, i can't take "sick days" from class.

for some strange reason, this school is stupif strick about cutting class. in their phamplet, they said the only reason you can miss class is if:

a: your an athlete going to a school sporting event
b: class is cancelled.

thats it.

Elliott18t 10-21-2009 04:17 PM

same here, after a while i lose part of my grade even if i did my ****, wtf. I mean I pay for it, if i choose to pay and do poorly thats my own dumbass fault.

DPancoast 10-21-2009 04:18 PM

yeah, i know.

my theory is, if i can pass the tests, and not make class, i should still pass.

speaking of class, time for me to get going.

Scapegoat 10-21-2009 04:28 PM

that is one of the reasons i couldn't stand college.

my money, my time, my future. you have no right to tell me, an adult, that if i deem it necessary to miss a class that i am not allowed to make that decision for myself. this isn't highschool, and i'm over 18.

fortunately, once you get into taking only night classes and professors realize you have a f/t job and other responsibilities they generally ignore tardiness.

but perhaps thats why i never got along well in college, i prefer to be treated like an adult... and they certainly don't do that on most occasions

DPancoast 10-21-2009 04:30 PM

lol yeah Ken you're right...

I honestly don't think you need major schooling to do well for yourself in life.

yeah, just about all the teachers do the same. only 8 people in my classes, 6 of them work full time jobs. only the normal classes, algebra and intro to computers, the teachers are bitches, and if you walk into class late, they mark it down.

my 2 tech classes, the teachers are cool as ****, and both of them work full times jobs else where.

None of my professors care if you're late. However, if you miss many days, they won't allow you to make up the work UNLESS you send them an E-mail explaining why you were not there.

yeah, my 2 tech teachers are the same. if you call them or email them before missing class, they'll tell you what to read over, so you don't fall behind.

well, i'm off to class.

I love night classes for that reason. We have a set unexcused absence policy, but our teachers know which of us have full time day jobs that may or may not require overtime. I've never had an absence counted against me because I always end up saying I needed to do extra time at work. That or I just don't want to go, they don't ask me, i dont say anything. Night profs treat you with so much more respect.

russiankid 10-21-2009 04:48 PM

I am going for engineering, so most of my classes right now are engineering orientated in some form or fashion. Some of my classes I only show up to see what the professor has to say, then I go work on my project.

DPancoast 10-21-2009 04:54 PM

most of the professors I had for night classes had full time jobs that they worked before coming to teach so they def understood that we had full time jobs before school lol

Roto 10-21-2009 05:04 PM

My mom's dog humps a plush frog that used to be a decorative pillow... needless to say he defends it like there's no tomorrow...
