Morning all. What a nice weekend weather wise. Saw my friend race in 2 $5k races and a $10k race. Didn't fare to well unfortunately, but I got a lot of sun.

Scapegoat 10-12-2009 08:36 AM

yeah... i got burnt yesterday working the cones in warminster at the scca autocross... even my lips got too much sun.

weekend was fantastic. between the pumpkin run and autocross i had a blast.

How did your mustang do in the autocross?

jpalamar 10-12-2009 08:48 AM

Think I'm gonna take the car to Maple Grove on Sunday. Hoping for low to mid 12s :-)

Scapegoat 10-12-2009 08:52 AM

pretty well. For my class, f stock, I was in third place from the beginning... but i got bumped down to 4th during the final run... my 59.234 was bested by a 59.007. arg!

had a great time otherwise. i'm even more tempted to drop the money on some koni adjustable shocks and a stiffer front sway. this will keep me in f stock. but i need to take a look at what f street prepared requires. I'm tempted to get coil overs, which would knock me out of f stock. but if i'm in street prep i think i can get some wider/smaller rims and throw some sticker rubber on them.

the turn around at warminster is a hell of a lot of fun. i'm not sure if i really got side ways, but the back end was definitely sliding around it. i'm not sure if this hurt or helped my time... i felt that i didn't lose to much speed, but i did have to correct to get through the box back there w/o hitting cones. i came out of that sliding once as well

all in all a great time... but it sucks to spend like 8 hours out there for what amounts to about 5 minutes of driving

the next event is at lincoln financial field and is a fund raiser, on the 25th. i may have to drag twastheglow and his girly out to that since they'll be over...

HickRocket1258 10-12-2009 08:56 AM

Ken that's like me with drag racing. You spend about 10 hours at the track, make passes down the 1/4 mile in about 11 seconds and continue to lose money doing it haha.

Scapegoat 10-12-2009 09:01 AM

haha yeah. it seems that with legal racing you spend a lot of money for a little bit of time. but in the end you've got a score and you've beaten other people and everyone knows.

i'm thinking i need a rollcage, race seats w/ harnesses, remove the rear seat... i'd love to get something set up in the back to mount 4 racing rims/tires so i can pull up to the paddock, and have everything come out of the car that needs to get put on and the tools to do it

HickRocket1258 10-12-2009 09:09 AM

Damn Ken, you plan on making it a full out SCCA car sometime? That's just nuts that you already have these plans for it. Luckily with the drag racing I do, there's money to be had in it.

lol ken sliding that turnaround makes you lose time but oh well. cant wait to see your car progress.

morning everyone. hope you all had a nice weekend. my weekend turned out great. got to do a lot of much needed relaxing with Michelle after a stressful week last week. Kinda sucks i didnt go to bear mountain this year but oh well, i probably saved my trans by not going and still got to work on my car.

Getting an alignment today at 3 so thats cool since i can go home early after that. very relaxed today so hopefully things go good this week.

Pretty chilly out tho. Dumb winter lol.

we'll see what happens over the next few years lol. i'd like to have a track car. and i think if i'm careful with the suspension mods i can have a daily driven track prepped car.

i'm not too sure about that. i came out of it pretty strong, at least it felt like i did.

HickRocket1258 10-12-2009 10:16 AM

You just have to realize once you start with the suspension mods, it gets a little rougher. At least that's what happened to my mustang, but I only have lowering springs on it as well.

Nick, what bar you guys going to? I might be out after House is over at 9.

happy b-day man

Oakes 10-12-2009 10:29 AM

oooo, I wanna watch House too. I THINK we're going to Barnaby's, it's in the air still but I will definitely inform as to where exactly

HickRocket1258 10-12-2009 10:38 AM

Ok cool, I'd definately like to come out for at least an hour or so.

oh for sure. i'm well aware i'm not going to retain the stock comfy ride... but with adjustable shocks i can at least soften them for daily driving then set them to be stiff for racing

DPancoast 10-12-2009 10:54 AM

cant wait for house tonight.

Just do shocks and springs ken... You dont need coilovers imo. Especially if you go with konis and a good spring.

You jusyt have to figure out what settings front and rear work best.

On my car one click softer or stiffer on my tokicos changes the response and stuff pretty dramatically... I love it

Scapegoat 10-12-2009 10:56 AM

springs knock me out of stock class... coil overs would as well... but if i'm going to do both, i may as well get coilovers since height and shocks are then adjustable.
