So today at work, I talked to a police officer who said it's legal to open carry in PA and that you only need a permit to conceal carry. What's the deal with this, because I keep getting conflicting info from different sources.

^^GOOD TO GO WITH UR **** HANGING IN THE WIND BRO!!

ALSO, you can OPEN CARRY in DE as a PA resident with NO permit :)

Ummm?

In PA you can open carry without a LTCF, unless in state of emergency, or philadelphia..

Dont you Carry Alex, if not sorry...

Only thing is as soon as you sit in your car its considered concealed. Most of my family members that have a lcf got it more for the restrictions of transportation of a pistol more than too carry although I've been slowly changing that

pa is open carry legal, and state of emergency is legal with LTCF

this should help, print carry and hand them out

I do have a LTCF, just never seen many people carry in the open so I thought it was illegal. I live in philly but work and spend most of my time outside of the area.

Here's a scenario. Carrying IWB at 5:00, bend over, and my shirt gets snagged on the gun and when I bend back, the shirt doesn't cover it. Is that at that point considered brandishing or open carry.

PA ha NO printing or brandishing law....

you're good to go, but i suggest doing some readings and be a more informed gun owner and take care of that responsibility of carrying a gun

lol is right, since here in PA, we're actually freer than Texans. There is no open carry allowed in Texas.

There is no brandishing in PA. Exposing your concealed gun either by accident or on purpose is simply switching to open carry. The closest thing to brandishing we have would probably be the all-encompassing "disorderly conduct", which you can't get for open carrying anyway. That's what Mark Fiorino's Philly open carry case was all about. He was falsely charged with DC for OCing in Philly, which is legal with LTCF. A DC or worse could easily be applied if you threaten someone, make some sort of "display" with the gun (like "yo don't eff with me, I has this" while pointing to exposed gun. lol), etc.

So anyway, no.. no brandishing law at all, accidentally exposing gun = open carry = legal.

agreed, and pick yourself out a good lawyer educated in gun laws, odds are one day you'll need one especially if you plan on doing some open carry

HaveBlue83 12-12-2011 11:31 PM

i just always conceal in PA and then no one knows jack. so much easier.

ehh.. that's a bit unfair to say. Learning from a good lawyer is obviously a good thing, but having one on retainer in anticipation of an open carry related event is pretty extreme. I've done quite a lot of open carrying (even at some TST meets, etc.), and I've never had a problem. There are only a relative few who have ever run into problems, and I'd say most if not all of them ended up walking away with things in their favor in the end.

Most of the time, yes I agree, concealing is easier. There's no argument though that OC is definitely more comfortable. I find myself OCing more often in the summer when it's hot and nasty outside. It's usually just a sloppy OC/CC mix, but it's obvious nonetheless. CC is nice when you're around people who would otherwise make a scene. Ever get into a conversation/argument about guns or carrying.... while you're carrying? It's hilarious. I had one girl at a party tell me that she'd go into hysterics and cry and scream and call 911 if she ever saw someone carrying a gun - legal or not. :bigeek: You should have seen her face when I told her that I was carrying right then... kinda like this :jawdrop:

~Brian~ 12-13-2011 12:39 AM

Although I am all for our right to OC and I will whenever I think that I can comfortably get away with it, I just find it easier, winter and summer, to CC. I want to be able to go about my business without disturbing the herd... sheep can be so easily startled, the poor things. lol

Plus frankly, I don't want to deal with the negative attention that goes along with OC'ing. Now if I were say out with you guys and I wasn't the only person with a pistol on their hip, I would feel MUCH more comfortable.

I've had this happen quite a few times. I love their reaction when I tell them I'm carrying. Then I get the "no you're not" in a jokingly manner. So I show them either by making the gun print through my shirt or switching to OC. Then I get the SUPER :jawdrop: FACE!!!

This is usually the best way to get into OCing.

Munky 12-13-2011 01:14 AM

After reading a lot of recent posts...it definitely makes me want to sell all of my guns.

~Brian~ 12-13-2011 01:22 AM

Why are you selling your guns man?

Munky 12-13-2011 01:23 AM

I said I "want" to. Not I "am".

~Brian~ 12-13-2011 01:33 AM

Oh okay, good lol

HaveBlue83 12-13-2011 11:42 AM

yeah i have done that conversation and had it on me. many times.

....and then when (if they are friends) I tell them I have it the girls ALWAYS wanna see it, and then feel like I'm their bodyguard after that...LOL. then if i see em later on they ask if i have it cause they dont feel safe if i dont...but in the begining they are scared ****less haha.

then I take em shooting and they have a blast. I just tell em $20 for ammo help and lets go.

then they use the pic as their facebook picture and get all kinds of "u r badass!!" comments LOL

thats usually the series of events in order
