I keep hearing that I would have to send the slide into Kimber so that they could install the sights for me. Is there any truth to that?

Munky 12-06-2011 12:04 AM

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...lies/dunno.gif mine were installed when I got it. I don't think Adrian (who I bought it from) sent it to Kimber tho. I think he just took it to a local gunsmith and had it done.

99corvette 12-06-2011 08:31 AM

i dont think you have to send it too kimber, any good gun smith should be able to do it.

Well if that's all there is to it, then I'll just take it to the guy who put the sights on my XDm. He did a great job and only charged me $10.

Also, I want to buy another gun just for plinkin around. Any suggestions? I would like to own a GSG *cough* Andy *cough*, but if I'm spending almost $400, I would be better off putting that money towards an AR.

22 conversion for the kimber

Already looked into that... there isn't a 22LR conversion kit for the 3" Kimbers.

Munky 12-06-2011 11:22 PM

If you're looking for a rifle you can customize (like the GSG) but want to spend less on the initial purchase get a Ruger 10/22. I had a GSG and I loved it + there's a ton of aftermarket for it, but I love my 10/22 more and there's even more aftermarket for it. Also the new GSG's that are produced ever since the lawsuit HK brought on them are made of plastic garbage. Mine was metal and durable. The newer ones are chintzy and junk.

Won't the 5 inch kit work?

Well I knew that part, which is why I would try to buy a pre-suit model. But from what I have seen, those command a pretty steady price of around $350-$400, so I was thinking instead of spending money on that, I would be better off just saving a little more then finally getting myself an AR-15.

I was looking at some of the Ruger 22's. I can find them relatively cheap and they would achieve my "plinking around" goal.

Not sure, I've heard yes and no. I'll just call Kimber to find out I guess.
