Sounds good, I'll start practicing that then!

Called CrossBreed and they would exchange the one I just bought for my XDm for a new one for the UCII. But to be honest, I don't want to rule out the idea of carrying my XDm, so I may either just buy another one for the UCII. She also said that they have a website where they sell basically brand new holsters that people either returned within the first two weeks or holsters that the company feels aren't good enough to send out as brand new (thin leather in some spots, maybe the dye wasn't 100% perfect. Either way, they are WAYYY cheaper than the full price ones.

A few questions for you 1911 vets... how do I carry this gun? Condition one, obviously.. but do I leave the hammer back? And if so, I'm assuming I leave the safety on? How will the safety being up affect the carry in a kydex holster?

As far as holsters go, I think I am going to get another CrossBreed. I really really like the one I got for my XDm and I think it is worth the investment to get one for the UCII

Cocked, locked, and ready to rock. I carry mine in both kydex & hybrids. The safety doesn't interfere with either so long as the holster is made for the gun.

hammer back safety on one in the pipe, just practice drawing and kicking the safety off with your thumb but make sure the gun is UNLOADED!!!!!

Had you bought a Comp-tac...you could just buy an additional kydex body and not have to spend the money on a full holster. Just sayin!

~Brian~ 11-03-2011 01:20 PM

I keep thinking about the Comp-tac, but tbh, I really really love my CrossBreed... it is super comfortable and makes the gun disappear.

*edit- although the more I read up on that MTAC, the more I like it. And from an aesthetic aspect, the chestnut color is pretty nice.

Come to the dark side!!! It's ok we won't tell anyone!!!

~Brian~ 11-04-2011 11:53 AM

I think I'm going with another CrossBreed... on their CrossBreed Seconds website, they posted a supertuck deluxe in horsehide in "excellent" condition for $50, so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna pick that up.

Well, I started out near the top of the 1911 ladder by getting a Kimber. An Ultra Carry II to be specific.

Eff my life.

But it's whatever... I've always loved Kimber's and have wanted my own.. and now that I finally have one, I'm happy!

Munky 11-06-2011 08:42 PM

Not saying it like it's a bad thing. Just saying there are a lot more high $$$ 1911's out there. You'll see once you start shopping around and checking them out. You can get into the thousands with them before you realize what you're doing

~Brian~ 11-06-2011 09:02 PM

I don't doubt it... maybe when I get out of school I can expand my collection

SvicksTc 11-06-2011 09:13 PM

Ya when you're looking at 1911s in the multiple grand caterogry that's some higher end stuff, ha

That's nothing against the kimber ultra carry beautiful gun and quite pricy too,ha

So in this case, cost equals quality? lol

And thank you! I really like it!

slowevo9 11-06-2011 09:57 PM

Cant go wrong with a kimber. Great gun for the money. Congrats on the purchase. But unfortantly there are alot more top end ones for alot more money.
