does anyone own a KelTec PF9? I am seriously toying with the idea of picking one up as a new uber cheap pocket piece, and they seem to have gotten great reviews I have just had bad experiences with Keltec in the past... i guess for $230 it wouldnt be a huge loss if i hated it.

rodder 10-31-2011 04:44 PM

I've never owned a keltec but my experience with them has been hit or miss. One guy I know absolutely loves his and claims he's never had a problem but then another guy had to send his back into keltec to get it to work right and then sold it.

Is the PF9 really a pocket pistol? Seems a tad bit big for pocket carry. The P-3AT is a lot smaller but of course is only .380. What happened to your fancy sig p238?

cmr076 10-31-2011 04:47 PM

i melted it down and made anal beads out of it.

cmr076 10-31-2011 04:50 PM

kidding of course, but I wish I had, that thing was the biggest piece of **** gun I have ever owned, and ive owned one or two guns in my day. the PF9 looks small to me, check it out:

Dave, it looks to be about the size of the G19 (Or i Just have big hands), however, only a single stack so alot smaller width then the G19...

Ive heard hit or miss reviews on them, and personally to thin for my liking

How often do you guys put leather conditioner on your holsters?

Buy another TRP, you wont!

Here is something i just ran across,

 Never! lol

I've heard that every holster manufacturer specifically says not to use any kind of conditioner on them. I know Comp-Tac and DeSantis have it right in the instructions sheet that comes with each holster. It weakens the leather too much and makes it lose its rigidity, which is usually part of its design.

My MTAC is broken in now and it's nice and soft without any conditioners.

About the PF9 - I wasn't impressed at all, even considering its price and main purpose, being a cheap junky carry or backup or whatever. Like most on the market, I don't doubt that it goes 'bang' every time you pull the trigger (or at least usually lol), but I wouldn't buy one. I handled a few and then got a chance to shoot one a while back when I was interested in picking up a small 9mm for the same purpose of warm weather/pocket/backup/etc. duty and I really thought it felt like junk. Yes, it's very thin and it's pretty small, but beyond simply having a gun with you, it's not capable of much.

Although it's much more expensive I really liked the Kahr PM9. It's much more solidly built and it actually feels worthy of being carried. The trigger is much nicer, which would be more enjoyable to shoot for practice. It seems much easier to hang onto also, although I didn't get to shoot one to be sure. I'm planning on looking into them a little more when I'm ready to buy something.

Ya so is mine, however, I just want to protect it from cracking over time just like worn leather will do

But this is why i askkkkk ha

Keltec = Stay away! Every one I've shot ran like dog**** and never went bang every time. The triggers are absolutely horrible on them to boot.

^^Not so much a fan of coffee but their other offerings have me sucked in...

Plus, if the decided to ban open carry/firearms in their stores, I would of turned the other cheek

So Ive been searching for a G19 or G26 for a little now for the right price...ive been looking for OD only but also looking if i could just score one and have it sent out and coated then give Dave a B-day present and sell him is G19 back :)

So this guy on PAFOA is killing me...started off with a crazy price of 7 something for this G26 OD, I told him straight up what i would give him for it and would come with cash in my hand the next day, he said that he had just posted it and would wait a few days to weight his options....So I offered him 525 for a used G26 OD (a little low yes, but it was my counter offer to his redic price of like 780)

Days have gone by and he keeps coming back to me like how about 750, 745,740, etc. etc. Like so desperate to sell but yet being such a hard ass about his crazy price. Ya i would pay more than 525 depending, but not much more and I keep telling him that. I just got another message saying 680 is the lowest he will go for a used G26 in OD..

I mean these guns have gone out of production for what, a few months? This is crazy...

Think im going to bite the bullet on a G26,G19 black and just have it sent out and coated OD and Nickel Boron Coat the slide

Ya, I know man...Ive been on the look out, but like i said waiting for the right deal to come along, there has been a few on the forums just really comes down to which route i want to take and ive been holding out on just trying to find an OD one, but i think the latter will happen

Munky 11-01-2011 11:44 PM

Steve I wouldn't pay more than $500 for that gun. I don't give two squirts of piss if its OD, Black, Pink, Chrome, Gold or adamantium. Gen3 Glock 9mm's are worth $500 or less. Hell I paid $400 for my G19 Gen3 with 5 magazines and a bunch of other accessories. Even Cabela's has them cheaper than $525...and we all know how badly overpriced their **** is. Like Dave said don't fall for someone's crazy price just to give Dave his back. It might take you longer than his b-day but keep searching and you'll find it. I refused to buy a Glock 34 unless it was a Gen3. I waited just shy of 6 months to finally come across a brand new G34 Gen3...and I paid just over $535 for it.

Oh I know, thats why i have bite the bullet on one of the OD's on gunbroker for 550..

There is plenty of G19's going on the boards for 400 or right around there...

I just thought i would wait out and try to find on that is OD already then having to buy one and have it sent out...

Still waiting..

On the other hand, a lot of positive reports on gun owners and 2A rights lately in the news :) Good Press!

have you cleaned it yet? breaking 1911s down is a little different than your normal gun (after a month or so you will be able to do it with your eyes closed) let me know if you need help getting it apart.

~Brian~ 11-02-2011 01:44 PM

I'm going to clean it tonight, so I will probably take you up on that.

A few questions for you 1911 vets... how do I carry this gun? Condition one, obviously.. but do I leave the hammer back? And if so, I'm assuming I leave the safety on? How will the safety being up affect the carry in a kydex holster?

As far as holsters go, I think I am going to get another CrossBreed. I really really like the one I got for my XDm and I think it is worth the investment to get one for the UCII

cmr076 11-02-2011 03:00 PM

hammer back safety on one in the pipe, just practice drawing and kicking the safety off with your thumb but make sure the gun is UNLOADED!!!!!

i carried in a desantis cozy partner, i have no experience with kydex.. with the desantis i couldnt even tell i was carrying it after a few minutes.
