The closet is real far. If someone breaks into your house you may not make it to your gun hiding spot. I would say most people here are a mix of protection and sport.

I keep my loaded co2 in a drawer by my bed, never had to use it yet thankfully. I just always found it kinda redundant that some people keep a semi automatic under the bed for "protection" when a simple pistol can do just fine...kinda thought those were the people that were :screwy:

What?

Semi-automatic can be anything from a pistol to rifle to shotgun. I do keep a pistol for self-protection. A semi-automatic at that, 15+1 with an extra mags too. What is wrong with that?

Good luck "defending" yourself with a CO2, all you are going to do is get murdered. If the situation is dire enough that you pull that out, all you are going to do is piss someone off.

Too bad if you don't like gun porn...I decided to practice today with natural light. These are low quality (20-30% done in paint, so a 2 megabyte file is now below 100kb)...
My two favorite handguns...the glock doesn't mind taking a shower either!

First of all if someone is coming to rob your house and you shoot them with a co2 gun they aren't gonna be too happy. And second why would you even think that provides any type of protection from anything but a bird or something.

Since the AR has a bit more kick, is louder, and an added bonus is the ammo being MUCH cheaper, I would have to say the AR from a SHOOTING perspective. From a collector/style standpoint, the PS90 gets all the points. She sure is pretty to look at

And CleanNeon, it's a VERY bad idea to use a bb/pellet gun as self defense. VERY VERY BAD. I don't even think it's necessary to explain why. You are honestly better off with a knife (if you don't want a real gun, and that's completely fine if you don't, but DON'T even intend on using a c02 gun to protect yourself).

OutOfStock 09-27-2007 03:23 PM

okay im a total noob, but the stock on the ar, whats up with it? It looks like a pole

For...

Protection
Sport
Collecting
and it just a whole lot of fun.

Like ITSTOCK has said to, gun hold their value and in some cases increase with time. You do know thou that semi-auto means a good amount of handguns, rifles, and some shotguns? Both of my guns are semi-auto. And the closet is way to far away. I have a holster thats made to fill on the side of a matress. I don't even have to get out of bed. Plus around the house Im carrying anyway. It just sucks with NJ law that I cant carry outside the house.

And Im not even going to comment on the BB gun statement.

That AR is registered as a pistol. It has a 10.5" barrel, and no stock. To be a legal rifle, it needs a min. of 16" barrel and 26" overall length+stock.

You can convert a rifle to an NFA item, and make the barrel any length that you want, that means less than 16", but you need to keep the stock. It's call an SBR, or short barrel rifle.

Back to the AR in question being a pistol. The pole in the back is a buffer tube (in simple terms, it houses a recoil spring), something all gas impingement rifles have, which means all of the M4's/M16's, and AR-15's (that aren't gas piston). The buffer tube on my pistol is an M4 style buffer tube, instead of the shorter buffer designed for pistols. It has the longer buffer tube because it is more reliable than the shorter ones designed for the pistol.

If you take the stock off any direct gas impingement rifle, there is the same, identical buffer tube, the stock just covers it. That's the short of it. If I were to buy a gas piston upper (my Robinson Armament XCR is a gas piston, as is the Sig 556) that doesn't require a buffer tube, I could do away with it. But, at $1500 for just an upper, I'm happy with the buffer tube.

Itstock...your USP looks great.

A USP Compact will be one of my next gun purchases, good choice!

Its a pretty powerful gun. 400+fps, fires .177 caliber metal bbs (12 round load limit) or pellets (1 round limit). It also has a rifled barrel, and some other crap.

BTW by semi-automatic I meant machine gun my gun terminology isnt up to par

http://www.gamo.com/?ID=53&ProductID=19

thats mine

I always liked the guns that have the top slide back to let the shell come out, but id think that would cause a kickback and you cant fire off as quickly (or accurately)

I'm sorry, but no, this is not a powerful GUN. I have the same, 100% identical pellet/bb gun. I have shot rabbits from 15 feet away, and it has scampered off. I have shot birds, taking out only a few of them. My neighbor accidentally shot one of our friends with it from about 20 feet away, and my friend had a welt on his back.

I feel bad that you can't grasp the concept that presenting that bb gun in a dire situation will only make the situation worse, for you. I really do feel bad that you don't understand.

goodfella732 09-27-2007 03:44 PM

Not for nothing but 400fps isn't **** when its only a small bb. Its only going to sting and even if it breaks skin not going to penetrate far.

This..

is nothing compared to this...

http://glarp.atk.com/2004_IRL/Federa...Disruption.jpg

Its what I keep both handguns loaded with while at home.

If you weren't here typing that you use your little p23 bb gun as a self defense weapon and defending your position on doing so, I would elaborate on what you are talking about, to help you learn. But

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Umm...yeah, as stated that is still not powerful.

Semi-auto = one shot for every trigger pull, round are self-loaded from a magazine or clip as the action cycles.

You were thinking of an automatic, which is also self-loading but when the trigger is held down will fire until empty or trigger is released.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semi-automatic_pistol

As far as more recoil with a semi-auto, there isn't. The action of the slide racking to load the next round absorbs much of the recoil from the bullet being fired.
