So anyway, I'm here back at work now. This past weekend I went to Vegas for a friend's wedding. That was on a Saturday night. The next morning I woke up very early (like 4am) and felt really sick, so I threw up. After sitting there throwing up for a few minutes, I noticed my chest was really pounding. Like, REALLY pounding. My heartbeat was fast and felt really irregular. I asked my fiancee to call the paramedics, and they came up to our hotel room, and hooked me to an EKG machine. My heart rate was rapidly fluctuating between 170 and 205 beats per minute, and my blood pressure was 160/110. They took me via ambulance to a hospital, where I proceeded to get stabbed with tons of needles and IVs and had xrays and cat scans and this and that and the other thing. Fortunately after about 10 hours my heart corrected itself to a normal rhythm under the medication, and after a REALLY PAINFUL 40 hours in the ER I was dicharged. So now I'm on a heart medication, and I have to avoid lots of caffiene and anything too stressful on my heart. Good times.

At least I'm not dead.

The diagnosis was atrial fibrillation, but there's no specific cause or even a guarantee that I will or won't get this again.

Wow glad to hear you are ok Kiel. You were only supposed to be in Vegas for the weekend too right?

ha, wow last night was insane. i like most everyone in my house, my roommate and i arent getting along at the moment though.

Kiel 11-09-2007 02:00 PM

Yeah, i was supposed to have come home overnight Monday, and instead I just got in late Weds night. Which sucked, cause the flights cost an extra $117 each to reschedule (they waived the $75 fee since it was a medical emergency) and two extra nights in the hotel. And I missed time at work too. All in all, this was one expensive trip to Vegas.

I left $300 up, but that doesn't count my additional expenses. And I have to take four days unpaid from work, which hurts bad

Nah, fortunately everything is OK with the job, I just used up all my available time unfortunately. I'm a dumbass. I'm gonna work some holidays upcoming and coupled with the money I made in Vegas it'll ALMOST be like I didn't lose the pay. I need to cut up all my credit cards.

Kevin 11-09-2007 02:27 PM

So what do you know about long-term? concerning your condition?
