I got to hold and caress a Glock 17c with a full auto sear & a stock today. I offered my son (who was standing next to me) as partial payment + my soul, left nut, 2 sticks of Juicy Fruit, an egg mcmuffin & $3. It literally showed up in the mail while I was awaiting my PICS check so he unboxed it and let me fondle it. But sadly the shop owner wouldn't sell it to me. So I just walked out with my brand new Glock 34 Gen3 instead. All in all it was a good morning...but still a little disappointed I couldn't take the full auto one home with me . I will be going back there to play with it tho!!!

what shop is this?
|
Local shop out here. It's his gun (not for sale) that he recently converted. He was having an issue with it so he contacted the manufacturer and they took good care of him. He said eventually he's going to allow people to rent some of his collection to use in the range. I'll be first in line!!!

^^Nice i want a holster for my car, since I have been trying to train myself if i needed to draw in my bucket seats and its really tough and could be dangerous
|
You're right that it could be difficult/dangerous to draw while seated and belted in, but I think it's even more dangerous to be unholstering and reholstering every time you get into and out of your car. Plus, it's one thing to open carry and have people simply see your gun in it's holster and see you minding your own business, but it's a completely different ballgame if someone should happen to see you handling it inside your car. Typical scenario I could foresee is this:
You leave the house holstered as normal, with the mag full + one in the chamber. You get into your car and you unholster the hot weapon and carefully tuck it into your car holster. You decide to make a stop at a Wawa. You again unholster the hot weapon and handle it, possibly within someone's view, no matter how discreet you try to be. You carefully holster it on your belt and go into the store. Get back in the car and do the same in reverse. See what I mean? If the idea is to remove the entire holster without touching or clearing the gun and mount it somehow and then reattach it inside/outside the waistband as normal, then I think it would be a little bit less risky (both safety-wise and sheeple eyesight wise), but still more touching of the loaded weapon in public than should happen. It's also a pain in the ass to try to put on a holster while seated in the car. It's a lot of squirming and nothing ever sits right. lol DeSantis has the Kingston holster that mounts to the seat, and I had thought about getting one to try out a while back but I never did. I've always liked the idea of an easily accessible mount for inside the car, but I just don't think it's very safe or practical. |
I was thinking of the desantis and I definetily hear all your valid points mike, guess I just need to get more training/practice drawing from my car
Because thinking about it more from that truck picture I wouldn't want it in any plain view for anyone to see or be like hmmm what's that and have a closer look |
I read a thread a while back about the same topic, and ended up changing my mind because someone else mentioned the same points. I sure as hell didn't come up with them myself! lol. The main thing aside from the obvious safety concerns is other people getting a glimpse of you handling the gun inside your car. Some people are assholes about seeing someone grocery shopping while OCing, so I can only imagine there would be a whole commotion caused if they see someone sitting outside a convenience store in their car actually holding a gun. lol. "zOMG 911!!! there's a guy about to rob this store! He has a gun in his hand sitting in his car!!"
I do little things like unbuckle my seat belt if I'm stuck in traffic or driving slowly through the city. It makes it a lot easier to access the gun if you need to. Since I'm right handed, the whole buckle mess is right there at my gun and it's nearly impossible to get to if I'm wearing it. I also lift my shirt up a bit and tuck it behind my holster, basically just switching to OC, if I know I'm going to be stopped for a while. One time I remember doing that is waiting in traffic for about 30 minutes after leaving a Phillies game. Surrounded by traffic on all sides and sitting still in a car in Philly while thousands of unruly and mostly drunk "fans" swarm around the cars isn't exactly a 'warm and fuzzy feeling' kind of situation. lol. Where I used to live we had a driveway that was about 300 yards into the woods so with no one around to see me acting like I thought I was a tacticool mall ninja (:o), I have practiced drawing a cleared gun from the holster while seated in the car and it's really not that difficult to do. Depending on where/how you carry (4:00 for me), it's just a little lean and then a normal draw. |

Mike, I carry right around 3oclock, well really between 3 and 4oclock. My seatbelt and and bucket seats make it a pain. Ive practiced drawing with a cleared firearm numerous times, but always seem to get hung up unbuckling the seatbelt...
I am going to start implementing your techniques in traffic, etc Although I practice my draw and point of aim a lot when im sitting bored up at school...However, recently ive been doing the "45" drill at the range.. Simple yet effective drill ive come to find.. From a holstered weapon put 5 shots into a 5 inch circle at 5 yards in 5 seconds (hence the 4-5 drill name) |

Have you guys seen the new glocks with the nibx finish. Held one on Saturday at the valley forge show. The finish is freaking sweet.

Its harder than Tennifer and looks pretty nice too, but im not sure if this is just the Nickel Boron coating over the Tennifer? Anymore info on this? Its not factory from glock but an aftermarket touch... |
I have a 1911 I'm selling on the cheap as well as my XD9 Tactical. 1911 has a few accessories with it too. I haven't listed it on PAFOA yet because I've been working way too many hours and frankly am just lazy  Hit me up with a PM if you're interested.
|
Munk, i may be interested in your XD9. I think the 1911 may be too big for what i am looking for. Any pics by chance?
|
I had posted pics here before but here they are again. Honestly it's about the same size as a 1911. It's a tactical model so it's a full 5" barrel and holds 16+1 rounds.
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5186/...9cbba0bb_b.jpg Comes with everything pictured. I cut out some foam to hold the 2 factory mags I bought at the same time I bought the gun. Gun only has 400 rounds through it. I bought it because I couldn't find a Glock34 anywhere at the time and wanted something to start shooting in competition. Got a new job and had no time to shoot competition so it only got to see a little range time here and there over the summer. :( PM me if you want to talk more. I don't wanna get banned again for trying to push one of these here. |
Here's some pics of my new purchase.

Showing off some of my extended mags on my guns. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...2/Glock343.jpg ^^^That's the 1911 I'm selling btw. The Para...NOT MY KIMBER!!! Punisher grips might or might not be included in sale. |
