I'd like ones with tritium in them, if they are fiber optic as well that's a huge plus. Like the look of the Ghost-Ring rear but would want to try it first.

if you want tritium and fiberoptic check out TruGlo TFOs.

Is it even that much smaller to make a difference? If you wont really be able to conceal either I'd just keep the XD and save up for something like an LC9.

You should come shooting at the farm. :)

Just dry fired the Glock. Wasn't horrible for me, my tiny hands actually have less of a grip on the XDm.. it feels chunkier; not sure about the exact measurements though.. After giving it some thought, I'll likely keep the XDm and pick up something smaller later. Again though, whatever I "conceal" will probably end up being a purse gun :/

Don't the XDs have customizable grips like the Gen 4 glocks?

edit: mailman came early with my beavertail :)

i was thinking of the same gun

CleanNeon98 08-23-2011 09:03 AM

What can you guys tell me about mag wells? My pinky feels like it's sliding off the bottom and I've thought about the pinky grip but even the back of the grip is just a tad short. They have weighted ones and non weighted and some are MUCH more expensive than others.

my brother has them on his glock 27, adds 1 or 2 rounds to the magazine, makes the gun feel a lot better in your hand too.

Anyone else find it funny that the gun is pointing at the person.

Sorry dude, even under controlled circumstances I had it beat into me.

Never point a gun at something you don't intend to shoot.
Especially yourself.

Is there any purpose to the modifications you're doing? Aren't you a novice shooter? Have you even mastered reload drills yet? If not, you don't need a magwell extension.

I'm wondering what the point of the beavertail was as well. Are you getting slide bite? You shouldn't if you're using a proper grip.

I have a suggestion... if you want to spend money on gun stuff, spend it on ammo, training and range time. No amount of tacticool add-on crap will help you shoot better if you haven't mastered the basics and aren't practicing regularly.

rodder 08-23-2011 10:28 AM

Hey Munky, how do you like that bodyguard? I was just playing with one the other day and found the laser extremely difficult to activate. I almost wish they made one without the laser.

+1, if you are planning on using it in matches i would say go for it, but honestly theres no point if you dont.

very true. sights are about as far as I'd ever go, especially with a carry gun. That mag well is designed for competition shooters who reload at the speed of light and need that extra wide opening to funnel the mag into the gun ASAP. It has no place on a gun that's to be carried for self defense.

The G19's grip is pretty close in size to my M&P compact with the factory grip extension and I can just fit my pinky on the end of it. It's comfortable once gripped but while drawing quickly sometimes my fingers feel a little crowded. That's just the way it is with a compact gun. It's pretty much one or the other - comfort and perfect grip vs. concealability and a bit crowded/sloppy grip.

CN -If you're interested in getting more grip room, look into magazine extensions like these --> (link) Some are made to just extend the grip and others add +2 to the mag capacity. Some even allow you to comfortably use the larger G17 mags in the G19. Personally I feel that it's kind of pointless to have a compact gun with the full size mag attached. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a compact gun in the first place.

Same here. I shot one a few weeks ago and I loved it, but the laser is crap. If they made a laser-less one I'd buy it tomorrow.

About to pull the trigger on a SW9VE,

Little bigger than what i am shopping for, but for the price, it seems like a great gun.

Any feedback on it? Pros, Cons?

Not pointing anywhere near me as a matter of fact. I was taking the picture with my right hand (camera phone) while holding the gun in my left hand out in front of me. The gun was facing to my left. About the only thing that could have possibly been hit is the meaty part of my palm just under my thumb which I probably wouldn't have felt anyway (very little to almost no feeling in either of my hands due to accidents over the years). I'd be more concerned when it's in my pocket holster than anything honestly. That's when it's pointed at my thigh/knee .

I love it to be honest. I was always skeptical of pocket guns because I have larger hands. Pagoda240 has one of these and I shot his a few times and had to have one. The shop he found this at for me had this and a Ruger LCP sitting there. I fondled both for about 10mins and decided this fit my hand a lot nicer. I've shot the Ruger previously as well and it feels way more snappier than the BodyGuard does. This pistol is on my person all day everyday unless I'm sleeping or in a school/court house/restricted building. I have no issues activating the laser with my trigger finger prior to putting it on the trigger itself. Then again I have long enough fingers to do so comfortably. :o

I honestly don't even use the laser much when practicing. It works nice and is a cool feature but it didn't sell me on the gun either way. This just fit me better than the Ruger LCR did. I don't think it added much weight to the gun either to justify having it or not either.

^^^^What they said  I have a magwell on my full size 1911 but it was previously a competition gun for my buddy that I bought it off of. I'm about to take it off for a range trip tomorrow so I can use standard magazines with it again instead of hi-cap ones...which I only have one of :(.

99corvette 08-26-2011 11:09 AM

got some factory hk straight sd marked mags in for the mp5, they look brand new.

SvicksTc 08-26-2011 11:17 AM

I agree with the above statements....I have yet to see a beavertail on a Glock, because honestly there is no need for it....I understand on a 1911 style pistol to give a higher grip and prevent hammer bite...But on a Glock i see it getting in the way more than anything...

If you're getting slide bite on a Glock, then you're holding it wrong...

My Glock came with night sights *trijicon* (from Dave) and all i did was add extended slide lock and extended take down levers (which is definitely a great addition) As far as that i would not touch my carry gun anymore than those three additions.

If you want all these crazy "mods" on your gun, I would not carry it....Get another carry gun...

Also, have you had an issues with the Gen4? or did you replace the guide rod/spring with the Gen3?
