True but what are you going to do instead? Not supporting those giant companies could (probably would) spell the complete and total collapse of the economy. This didn't quite happen given the current path and now there are signs of recovery.

Frankly the banks were irresponsible for starting this crazy lending but the people who bought houses they couldn't afford are every bit as guilty and so far have taken no responsibility for this mess. I have my old ****box house that I can afford and not some mcmansion wondering how the govt is going to save my ass. They prolly would have loaned me $500K easily but only a fool thinks he can afford what he can't afford.

So if both consumers and producers can't behave the govt has to step in and hold their hands... And that's what america has been reduced to.
