alternator?

scutzi128 02-11-2008 06:39 PM

Mine went on my 2g but I had a system so idk.

97TurboDSM 02-11-2008 06:44 PM

before today it was fine, even in the cold it would start up. i think the extreme cold last night/this morning demolished the battery but i dunno.

Kevin 02-11-2008 06:46 PM

Yea. Your battery might have junk CCA for this temperature.

Hey an alternator is an easy fix for our cars. Right out front and in the open.

97TurboDSM 02-11-2008 07:00 PM

easy is fine and dandy. paying for parts is the not so hot part of the deal

scutzi128 02-12-2008 11:16 AM

I think I got an upgraded rebuilt one for like $150 and installed it myself. Usually if you get your car jumped the battery would atleast take enough of a charge from the alternator to start you up after work. I think if you take it to autozone/pepboys they have equipment to analyze your electrical system to tell you what the problem is. They will do the analyst for free if I recall correctly.

CHAOS 02-12-2008 11:23 AM

matt, my car wasnt happy to start this morning, i think you are fine... maybe a new battery is in order

Last time I went there they didn't even have the hookup for a ford alternator. ****ing jokes.

i think so too. during work today i went out to fire it up and it started right up so i let it warm up a lil just to be safe and it started right up for me after work. i think it just got a huge shock from the big temp drop. we'll see though as the week progresses.

lagos 02-12-2008 06:44 PM

its your battery. it cant hold a charge anymore.

97TurboDSM 02-12-2008 08:41 PM

yep. im just dealing with it for the time being

scutzi128 02-14-2008 09:26 AM

Yea sounds like the battery now, bad batteries show their true colors when it really cold.

97TurboDSM 02-14-2008 07:19 PM

last 3 days its started no problem. so, still dealing with it.
