I don't see how one could install a motor/trans combo in a WRX without scuffing paint somewhere. I think it is best that Troll does it separated.

im sure you're pretty excited to see this get finished and on the road, but god damn the suspense of this build is killing me.

damnit pete, getting ahead of yourself there.

honestly, we have 95% of the wiring and lines hooked up. we've got a short list of things we still need to hook up / take care of / figure out wtf to do with, but we're definitely getting close.
of course we still need to fill all the fluids and the short list will take a couple days i think, but i see no reason why it wont be up and running before the weekend :).
maybe, and i dont want to jinx it, but maybe, depending on what kind of time we can put in, i might be able to maybe bring it to the meet on thursday? i think i should add in more more maybe? hmmmm we'll see, that'd be cool though.

thanks for all the comments though guys, its awesome that some of you are as anxious as we are to see this through. its been a big project and draining at times to try to fit it in around a full time job, but its the kind of thing that we can really be proud of...

and one more thing... fred and pete rock. they're awesome. they're treating my car as if it were their own... they're busting their asses just as much as i am, and their commitment to the project is unbelievable. i would have never expected this much from anyone, but i dont know if i could have pulled it off without them. thank thank thanks thanks.

Troll, I think any Suby owner with heart is following this thread. I for one check it several times a day....You're gonna have a quite a piece of machineery on your hands when all is said and done. I can't wait to see the completed project.

Hey now, let's not get the wrong idea, I'm only following this cause I like Troll and his car. I'm not a closet subaru fan...am I? :(

Eh, Troll was the first TST person I ever met so you can suck it.

piknockout 08-01-2007 08:47 AM

I love this project. When you end up bringing it out to an auto-x event, perhaps I'll have to take it on an "instructor run" to show you the course.

BlackBulletTSi 08-01-2007 10:12 AM

I def been following the progress of this car but thats because Trolls the man haha

TROLL 08-01-2007 10:51 AM

ha...
ya know one thing i'm gonna have to do when i'm done is weigh the car. i know the 07s were 85 lbs heavier than the older STi's which are almost 200 lbs heavier than the regular WRX (which is about 200 lbs heavier than the older GCs!). i know that at least some of that is drivetrain related, but i'm curious to see how much. this is off the top of my head but:

gc: 2850 lbs.
bugeye wrx: 3085 lbs
04-06 sti: 3250 lbs
07 sti: 3330 lbs

poolmike 08-01-2007 11:23 AM

It's gonna be slower! HA!
