Having to buy a ton of video and camera gear over the next few months. My friends all say to get the D40 or D50. They all seem to know people who sell this stuff second hand.

Buying a sony Z1u in the next week or 2, boom mic and some video lights. Next month I will get camera gear. In the mean time I am borrowing others gear.

Another reason is the video...I want to do light video work of family events, etc. and build a camera mount for my rollbar to use with the t1i and an 18-55 lens.

well the 18-55 is a piece of ****. t1i is gonna be small and stupid. go try one before you buy it

T1i is nearly the same as the 50D feature wise, just size is different as well as max of 1/4000 and 1/8000 and a few other things, and the 50D costs more money.

I dunno!!!!! :(

Wait a few weeks and go with the upcoming Canon 7D.

I wouldnt let video be a deciding factor in your purchase. I, personally, would rather just get a cheap independent video camera if necessary. While the video is a cool feature (gimmick) you are going to want a photo camera first and foremost.

Plus, rolling shutter issues with the video may not make it idea for auto videos. I know Chaz had a video of some drifting and the rolling shutter was pretty apparent. Get like a flip cam or something for those applications imo

youre better off sticking with a point and shoot. the rolling shutter issue sucks, but thats me. unless you like working on a tripod to get nice quality or have the software to correct it, its not worth it. and having to manually focus will start to get annoying.

if you wanna see what im talking about watch the sky here...

and do you really wanna strap a expensive camera to a roll bar? i personally dont care, but it will suck to have it come off.

(jspek btw lol)
